Japan Flesh For Frankenstein & Blood For Dracula - Japanese releases

Has anyone heard more info about the upcoming Japanese bds of FLESH FOR FRANKENSTEIN and BLOOD FOR DRACULA? I doubt FFF will be in 3D, but it'd sure be nice to get it!

Angry Beware of censorship

Be aware that below the waist nudity is a no-no in Japan. These films that contain below the waist nudity (male or female) WILL be altered or blurred out. You have been warned.

There is an Aussie release in Feb of these two. Hopefully better although no indication of 3D of FFF.

Not necessarily. Some films slip by, especially if they're Western. That said, we won't know for sure until someone bites the bullet and picks up the films.

Just get the Aussie ones, they'll be half or a third of the price, and definiteky uncensored

I live in the USA and I'd love to buy the Australian releases but I can't find a place that carries them.

Any ideas?

I ordered them from Mighty Ape in New Zealand. They have expensive overseas shipping ($17), but you can add more items for no added cost.

Thanks! The price for both, including shipping, is just shy of $50 USD so I might have to order them. I love these movies. I bought the Criterion LD's when they came out, then the Criterion DVD's then the other (Image Entertainment if I recall) DVD's

I have both of these. While the HOLY MOUNTAIN blu-ray release has optical censoring (the naked children in the beginning have their peni colored green, ie to appear like fig leaves; the adults have "some" blurring, but it is minimal and covers the exact area of the offending area), these are... weird to say the least. I recall some scenes maybe having the slightest of a blur (such as the one of the far shots of the creatures in FLESH FOR FRANKENSTEIN), but there are others (such as in BLOOD FOR DRACULA) where you can clearly see the main character's penis and it's not blurred.

BTW, both have excellent picture quality, the commentaries and all the extras from the Criterion dvd.

Here are the links:

BLOOD FOR DRACULA ($11.18)

FLESH FOR FRANKENSTEIN ($11.18)

Ditto on someone letting us know if these are region A or region free.

Ordered these at the current 20% off JB sale ($11.18 ea +.99 ea ship). Don't know what the transfers are like so this a blind purchase. Have these on LD gathering dust in the basement, never bought the DVD's so this is already a worthy upgrade. Prefer the Aussie artworks to the Japanese counterparts, sometimes I think the Japanese do go a little overboard with their artworks. But the most important thing is transfers, hopefully they they rock!

Does anyone know if the Aussie blus have all of the Japanese/Criterion extras? It would also be interesting to see a comparison between the PQ on the Aussie and Japanese discs too...

Any word on the quality of the Aussie releases? I'm thinking of ordering them when I get paid, but I want to be sure they're worth the upgrade from DVD.

I have the AU Blood For Dracula.

I don't know much about these things but the transfer looks like an old DVD transfer that has been used in the higher resolution of blu ray? It is still better than a DVD but unless you are getting it really cheap I would hold off for a proper release.

I can definitely confirm that the Japanese blus are in true HD and not upconverts.

Same here. I saw Flesh for Frankenstein in 3D in the late 70s and it used bats and guts for some hilariously gross pop out effects.
