Default help with laptop and diffrent voltages

hello every one i am asking for your help im currently in italy on vacation i brought my ibm laptop here to use the power brick says it handels voltages from 100-250 and 50-60 hz i used i converted to power the batery here but the converter was meant for only 150 watts above i left it for an hour as i went for a walk i came backed powered it down and tried to turn it back on but the icon that shows the cpu is working only flashes along witht he battery icon(every 5 sec aprox.) iv managed to get it on once and went to open up windows media player to play a mp3 and it turn down back to the flashing icon and not turning on then a couple house latter i was able to get in to my computers bios but while i was making sure no settigns were messed io kept hearing the low battery alarm and after saving the settings and turning off it never turned back on iv since removed my bettery for 2 days and the cmos battery thn tried then tried after charging the battery for around 8 hours in the area im in there are power surges im told every so often so i thinking that might be it i wont be back untill back to this internet cafe for a couple days i will be back i am despret plz help

also, keep an eye out for any other tourists who are using laptops, see how they charge them.

thanks for your imput im not sure what happened but the mother bord is fryed good thing i got insurence lmao

That sucks.

In any case, for future reference, DON'T try using a voltage converter on things like notebook PCs that suck a lot of power. The power supplies are generally dual-voltage (as yours is) and can work around the world with just a plug adaptor.

yup - all you needed was a plug adapter - I doubt the mobo fried as a result of the voltage converter
