I saw a review for the 360 version on xplay (G4) (175 on ionline from cablevision). they gave it a 1 out of 5. The game looked terrible. Hopefully they fixed some of the issues (camera, loading times, etc). I dont have high hopes for this title.

What I find comical, is a game could come out on the 360 to a bad review. Then get completely fixed on the ps3 and still get a similar review.

The 360 one is plagued with problems, i regret owning it. However, the game itself is pretty fun once you're used to the controls. That being said, i havent touched it since i bought it, i should trade it in, but i'd rather let it sit and collect dust then let gamestop thieves take it from me.

I was coming on here specifically to post a review on this game. Here are my thoughts:

I had also heard all the bad reviews and complaints about the 360 game, but Sonic was one of the first game's I played as a child and I felt I owed it to myself to at least try it out. With about 2 months of a pushback that this game got(originally was supposed to be a launch title), I figured they would improve alot, since the 360 version was not far from horrible.

I never tried the 360 version myself, so I don't know exactly how it played, but I DID play about 3 hours today of the PS3 version. My expectations of the story were correct- horrible. This game's story is made for a 3 year old. Perhaps I would have liked it when I was the age I played the first sonic, but it's overdramatic and childish.

In regards to gameplay, I've played about 2 hours of Sonic's episode and 1 hour of Silver. As in the 360 version, the town missions are retarded. Reminds me of Spiderman 2 missions for PS2, but even worse. They should have just been left out of the game. They're pretty much just there to get some coins to buy stuff with. The loading times are still pretty poor, but the thing that bothers me the most was the same thing that was pointed out of the 360 version:

WHAT WAS SEGA THINKING?!?!?!

You will go up to someone to talk to them and a loading screen will appear. Then, they will tell you what to do, and the loading screen will come again, then you are in the mission. It is perfectly easy to give mission details and cut out that extra loading screen- I wouldn't mind one. It's essentially reloading the city and person in a different camera angle for a 2 line speech.

I knew all these things prior to buying the game, I didn't think Sega would try to fix these. The thing I cared about most were the levels, I wanted to see how they played and how fun it was to fly all over the place.

Camera angles from what I played so far really weren't too bad, though I could see someone easily getting frustrated. If you press L1 you automatically cut to a front view, and if you press L2 or R2 or even use the right analog stick you can move your view.

The stages themselves(I only played about 3 or 4) were pretty fun. Although, as I heard someone say before, you're pretty much just steering Sonic through as he flies through the level almost out of your control. I found that pretty cool though. In Silver's mission you get more control.

I DID find myself "wow"ing the speed in this game, as I did many years ago at the first Sonic for Genesis. I appreciated still being able to be shocked as just how fast little Sonic could move. Though it's DAMN hard to control him at that speed.

The one thing that bothered me the most was the slowdown in this game. This REALLY REALLY bothered me. It is beyond unacceptable. I feel as if I'm playing a game on my computer that my Graphics card CLEARLY can't handle. The worst thing is- there is NOTHING on the screen that is justified to cause such a slowdown. There was one area where it happened when there were 2 enemies on the screen, and a bunch of other physics objects, but I came back and after all those things were gone the slowdown still occured when there was only a skybox and some low res meshes in the background which should NEVER cause such a slowdown. This slowdown occurs ALL THE TIME when you try to turn around or anything. I replayed the first level with Sonic, and the slowdown wasn't too bad then. I noticed a ton of slowdown with Silver's character. He controls objects and he is a physics intensive character, so there could be some leak there, but it occurs when I'm simply walking around. I don't know what the problem is, but there must be something programmed incorrectly that is causing this. If someone could PLEASE explain to me how this could happen I would feel a little better.

Does anyone know if that happened in the 360 version? I know this is a first generation game.. but seriously.. go play the game and there is no excuse for that.

I would really enjoy the stages much more without the slowdown. Whenever I get excited the slowdown will occur and instantly kill any fun I am having. Another thing is the controls are pretty sloppy. It's hard to turn and you're always moving way faster than you want to.

Overall, "fun", but not worth a buy at all. It saddens me that they couldn't have done a better job, but no game is usually as good as the original. I'll probably try to get through the game, and then return it(EBGames has a 7 day policy I think).

Again, I only played this game for a little while, but the things I saw were constant, and made me want to stop playing within just that first hour. I don't think I will feel any better about this game as it goes along, but I really hope I don't feel worse.

I haven't tried the multiplayer, but that looks like it could have some potential to be fun, as it seems to just be racing through the levels.

Edit-- Oh yeah, the music is pretty good.

Sorry- that was pretty long, if you skipped to the end just know this: everything you heard about the 360 version- it's probably true about this game too. Thumbs down to Sega.

If I had to rate it, I'd say 2 out of 5. The game can be really "fun" at some times, and flying around the levels is really cool. If they made this game like the original(ONLY LEVELS), I think it would be much much better. The slowdown would be the only other problem, and SERIOUSLY, if anyone has played this game, do you have any idea why the slowdown is THIS bad?

If anyone has specific questions, PM me or reply. If I find anything better/worse about the game as I play, I'll add it to this.

That's good to know it's on the 360 version as well, I was beginning to buy-in to the negative hype about the PS3. It's still uncalled for that there's such a slowdown on the game though. Wtf Sega.

Storyline aside, this game would actually be really good if it weren't for the slowdown. The levels are awesome but the slowdown ruins the fun. Seriously, how can a game like this be put out to sell?
