Default Wish we had a new Cthulhu franchise

Would be great if someome could launch just one decent, resepectable film that would launch a new franchise.

too bad Del Toro abandoned the Mountains Of Madness project. That was the closest we could have gotten to seeing good ol Big C on the big screen.

Best I have seen so far is probably Dagon
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0264508/

which is only bested by In the Mouth of Madness (huge referentials to HP Lovecraft, but not a direct adaptation)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0113409/

But GdT's Mountain of Madness would have been epic.
I hope he gets around to do this someday.

It's a shame that HP Lovecraft has never been properly represented on screen (aiside from "The Re-Animator," "From Beyond," and "In the Mouth of Madness," but there's never been a grade-A Hollywood title). Any of his work in mainstream cinema would be epic.

Del Toro didn't abandon the project but Universal said no to it. He's still working on it hoping to one day be able to release it.

The studios decided NOT to back the picture due to budget concerns. Del Toro was very disappointed in that decision.

the 1970 Dunwich Horror with Dean Stockwell was pretty good (or at least i remember liking it) but it didnt have a whole lot to do with the story.
