Default Old School or New?

Just wondering whether people preferred old school music or new school music?

I personally love some old school stuff but most of the stuff I listen to would be considered new school.

I'm in love with 80s music so the choice is obvious.

I guess new school, but after '99 or so, there aren't many new bands I listen to.

Both since we're talking about post 90. Most music that I listened to in the moment were from the 80's & 90's. I would say though, save for a few bands (Incubus & Tool are a couple), I don't listen to current music that much.

I'm a neophile so I always need to have new things to keep me interested, music included. I used to love classic rock, metal, hip-hop, etc....but honestly after a while, I get sick of hearing the same song over and over. When I visit certain friends and get in their car and they're playing something like Snoop - Doggystyle or Metallica - ...And Justice For All, I hate to say it but I kind of feel sorry for them. I mean, those are great albums, but how many times can you listen to the same thing?

I feel extremely fortunate that I've discovered what I consider to be some of the most cutting edge, underground music in the world, and am constantly excited by new music coming out every week. Since most of what I listen to is made on computers, the level of production and creativity literally increases every week, just as the level of computing capability increases.

I know a lot of people don't get that, and they feel that real music has to be created on instruments or played by a band, and I respect that, but let's face it - there's only so far you can go with a guitar, a bass, and some drums. Tool is the one band that I feel is pushing the envelope with futuristic sounds, and that's why they are my favorite "band." Saw them 5 times last year. But electronic composition is the future, and it's here, embrace it. Once you do, you'll find that there is incredible, mindblowing music coming out every week.

Hell yes!

But come on, the Beatles, Rolling Stones, the Who, the Doors, Steve Miller Band, Mighty Rearranger, David Bowie. All of them kick ass.

OLD SKOOL HIP-HOP
Old school hip hop would be from the 80's to possibly late 90's before everything went commercial.

Nothing else. If it's the radio I'll listen to alternative rock also, since pop stations consider this new stuff "hip-hop".

Same here. I don't listen to anything after about 1995 or so.
