Let's be realistic...

No one really gives a sh*t about Versus... seriously. FFXIII was the deal. That was what mattered. Microsoft knew that and that's why they through so much money around to stop it from happening. It was the last major hold out keeping PS3 with the most 'future potential' and they knew it. There is no reason at all for Japan to ignore the Xbox anymore after an announcement like this.

Its not exclusive, japan is still just going to get it on PS3.

Realistically, you're right. I never had any intentions of getting FFXIII vs. I thought it looked stupid. I am deeply saddened by the news for FFXIII though.... I won't be touching the game if they reduce any part of it for the 360.

What is Versus? Isn't it a whole extra game? Not a fighting game like i originally assumed?

Its an action/rpg. Not a true FF RPG. Honestly doesnt look that interesting to me.

Versus is more like the 'tactics' style of play from my understanding.

You basically strategize your movements within a grid and 'set off' the action once things are set up and it plays out for you.

Most boring thing I have ever done. I do not see the attraction of that style of gameplay but to each his/her own.

I really don't know why everyone is getting their panties in such a twist over this. Sure, keeping FF exclusive to the PS3 would've been another huge blow to the M$ and the 360. But the overall momentum is still, and will continue to be, with the PS3 and Sony. And the 360 having a FF game will not change that.

This was mainly a consideration for the American market as the 360 is not a factor in most of the rest of the world. The majority of the game developers know this and are now using the PS3 as their lead console. And M$'s other exclusives have not really panned out... Halo 3 (which fanboys cried would be the big PS3 killer) turned into a big "so what?"... and the exclusive content for GTA IV (which they paid a fortune for) has been delayed so many times it's pretty much lost any significance.

This is one of the last hands that M$ can play to stop Sony's momentum. That and the price cut. And now they've played both. The 360, after 2 1/2 years, is pretty much all washed up. And when the release of FF on BOTH platforms happens, the PS3 will be even better positioned in the marketplace and it's availability on the 360 will be even more of a non-issue.

I'm actually looking forward to Sony's press conference tomorrow!

Awww, I see what Versus is. Its just like FF VII on the PS2...which sucked. I like the classic RPG style where each character waits their turn and picks Fight, Magic, Items, etc. from the bottom menu. Thats how I want FF XIII to be like. I didn't even like FF XII because it just wasn't the same as the classics.

God bless your optimism, Jack. I admire it and wish I could share it, but, I work in the perception business and right now... Well, the perception of Sony is VERY negative and M$ just boosted theirs through the roof.

It's not even about FFXIII specifically, but rather about the fact that the consumer now knows two things: 1) Microsoft will do whatever it takes to ensure the best content and support (extending warranties thought the RROD is still a MAJOR BS hassle) is on the Xbox360 and 2) Sony will NOT do whatever it takes to ensure the best content or support is on PS3.

That is the true perception out there whether people are even aware of it or not. Who would you rather buy from? Someone you know will bend over backwards to ensure you get all the things you want or someone who will just keep showing you cool stuff over and over and never delivering on it?

I agree, its like crying that the next Mario game is coming to another system, but then saying , oh but Mario Party is still exclusive! yay!

Honestly, this is not really cause for celebration. It won't sell systems. On top of that, it has probably only gone through like 5% of development. Most of the team is now working on FF13. Who's to say that once development starts again, they won't change their mind and make it multiplat also? Seriously, they said FF13 was PS3 exclusive at one point. Who believes a word they say now? Again, as I've said elsewhere, if they are REALLY looking at the market (and not accepting money from M$) then they would release their 360 exclusives for PS3 as well, especially in Japan and also Europe, where PS3 is the leader/becoming the leader. They got paid, pure and simple. Sony needs to stop this soon, or people will see no reason left to buy a PS3 unless they want a Blu-ray player.

This is a completely different team. FF13 is being made by the Final Fantasy Team. FFvs13 is being made by the Kingdom Hearts team.

This isn't being put on hold for FF13 mainline, and if there is any team which can make a product superior to mainline Final Fantasy, it's the Kingdom Hearts team.

Having said all of that, right now it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if this turned out to be multiplatform before release. Hell, right now it wouldn't surprise me if it turned out that "No, It's not multiplat" meant it was 360 exclusive.
