Default PS3 Won't Play CDs

I don't normally play cd's on my system since I have everything streaming through my media pc. The last time I played a cd on the PS3 it was perfectly fine. Tonight I tried to play the same cd that I sucessfully played before, but it wouldn't play. It knew a disc was inserted, and it read the disc just fine, it told me what disc it was and had all the track info listed, but would not play. It plays everything else just fine, blu rays, dvd, etc., but won't play any cd's either burned or retail. Has anyone else experienced this? I haven't tried to play a CD since the last 3 or 4 firmware updates, could the issue be firmware related?

I listen to CD's often on my PS3... it's not firmware related.

A shot in the dark here, but could it be that some of your audio output settings were reset when your PS3 updated its firmware?

I went back and rechecked all my settings, nothing has changed. I'm outputting everything via HDMI to a Yamaha RX-V1800 receiver. There is nothing wrong with the drive since it plays everything else.

Anyone have the number for PS3 tech support?

Thanks, I have a feeling I will have to give them a call... besides the CD thing, my bluetooth connection keeps dropping on me. I swear I've had less issues with my 360s.

It's worth a call either way, they're better equiped to answer your questions with the CD, and that sounds like it might be a hardware issue.

And I will take the opportunity to take a potshot at the 360 . It's fun. I prolly should call MS to figure out why it takes the 360 5 minutes to respond after I plug in my zune .
