Default Bandai Visual Japan Showing Off Managed Copy via Blu-ray

Google Translate Link

AV Watch has an article up talking about a couple of the upcoming Bandai Visual releases in Japan and though worded badly through translation, it appears they demoed Patlabor being used for managed copy.

There's also a heavy push on TrueHD and its packaging/marketing. Any Japanese literate types able to translate in better form?

We need Rio in times like this. Or Hiro Nakamura and Ando.

That's not managed copy. It meant they were showing a checkdisc basically

This was simply the press junket for their first HD titles

Unfortunately Wicky's right with the exception of it being a preview of the final product, not a check disc. About the only thing of interest IMO is that they're including trading cards with the discs.

A Checkdisc is the first batch off the line to "check" that the pressed product is good to go for the full run.

Here's a quick translation of the first three paragraphs which IMO are the meat of the subjuct anyway.

Keep in mind I did this is a quick translation and I didn't have a proof reader but should be better than those gawd awful software translators.

"On the 17th Bandai Visual stated in a test media conference to industry representatives (reporters?) that “Mobile Police Patlabor” Blue-Ray edition will be available domestically on July 27th for the next-gen format.

The audio format adopted for the next-gen DVD is Dolby TrueHD, which was also demonstrated at the conference. Because of this, the test copy was displayed at the Dolby Laboratories booth.

From a previous announcement, the Domestic Board will release the BD/HD-DVD from Bandai on the 27th. Because the BD video edition of Akira was postponed, the two movies “The Wing of Royal Space Army Onesia” and “Mobile Police Patlabor” will be release on both BD & HD-DVD. Both the BD/HD-DVD and a re-mastered DVD will be included in a Twin Pack and also include a “Tall-Case” feature."

It then goes on to talk about Dolby TrueHD capabilities and explain some stuff about Patlabor (which personally I've never seen it). It also talks about the difference between the HD version and the standard DVD. Nothing new to everyone here. Also worth note is both movies will include a Dolby TrueHD track and a PCM track in Japanese. Both movies will have english language but only Patlabor will include 5.1 in english.

Hope this sheds some light on the subject. Sorry if the translation was still hard to understand.
