Default New PS3 exclusive RPG being developped by NIS

They are already planning the post - Disgaea3

http://www.psxextreme.com/ps3-news/3425.html

Quote:
Okay, so many a PlayStation 3 owner feels somewhat abandoned by Square-Enix after the E3 announcement that Final Fantasy XIII would also be coming to Microsoft's Xbox 360. Furthermore, the 360 gets a S-E exclusive with Infinite Undiscovery very soon, and The Last Remnant will debut first on the 360. Yeah, Final Fantasy Versus XIII is still a PS3 exclusive, but even so, RPG fans need something more.

Well, they should consider putting some serious faith in NIS. First of all, we know they'll be delivering Disgaea 3 at some point - and that's certainly exclusive to the PS3 - and now, according to RPGFan, the developer is working on yet another PS3 exclusive role-playing adventure. They won't divulge any details at this time, but they did say this new project “will harness more of the power of the platform and shouldn't garner complaints that it looks like a PS2 game.” Disgaea 3 isn't exactly a next-generation-looking title, and NIS is aware of the minor graphical backlash. Hence, they're apparently working very hard to produce a PS3 exclusive RPG that will boast the patented NIS depth plus an impressive visual display. Now that's something to anticipate!

As soon as we learn what this game is, we'll let you know, because we're certain RPG fans and PS3 owners are kinda in desperate need of any new info.

I'm not sure why, but it doesn't really excite me.

Maybe because I know it will be AT LEAST 2-3 years before we even get to demo the game?

Dunno.

By Then we will have Eternal Sonata, Disgaea 3, Valkyria Chronicles, White Knight Chronicles, and many others.

Cheer up, I bet ya that we will have good surprises at the TGS, if not at Lipzeig.

What makes you think this? Disgaea 3 was cranked out quite quickly.

NIS has a very short turnaround time ever since the first Disgaea on their next project:

La Pucelle: Jan '02
Disgaea: Jan '03
Phantom Brave: Jan '04
Makai Kingdom: Mar '05
Disgaea 2: Feb '06
Soul Nomad and the World Eater: Feb '07
Disgaea 3: Jan '08

This isn't Sony, I can't imagine what makes you think that they are suddenly going to not just slow down, but slow *WAAAAAAY* down.

It's definitely waning... I really really felt going into E3 this year that this was it. Sony was finally going to announce they were going to stop developing PS2 crap, put Backwards compatibility into all PS3 SKU's henceforth and focus 100% of their console resources on the one main console, PS3.

I also was fairly certain it would be this E3 that Sony finally talked about deliverables... games we could all actually play NOW or really damn soon.

But, nothing. Same old junk, nothing coming anytime soon and a CEO stupid enough to say he'd rather see HOME released two years from now publicly.

Instead, I get M$ doing pretty much what Sony should have: Focus on one console, dropping a huge bombshell and only talking about deliverables that will be available now or really soon. M$ didn't discuss a single IP that was expected to release post-holiday season (FFXIII being just a deal announce really).

One could argue the deliverable thing on Sony, I guess; however, the fact remains that these games have been promised for a couple years and some postponed more than once to the point where Sony flat out refuses to ever give release dates anymore. It's very hard to trust anything Sony says right now.

Something big is broken in the house that Sony built and they better pull their heads out of their butts and fix it fast because I'm sure there are a lot more people sitting/leaning on the fence far further over than I am.

I really need some things right now in my gaming... things that are new and fresh. More FPS is not it and I'm sure a TON of people would agree with that. I find it VERY ironic that a platform, Xbox360, that became branded with FPS has suddenly become the platform with more choices (aka more rpgs). Very ironic indeed.

So to make it short, you are jealous at the 360.

Not jealous. Envious.

I envy the fact that they are getting some great, diverse, titles and PS3 is not. It's starting to feel like things have switched and the PS3 is now getting stonewalled into a FPS only direction while the 360 is just now beginning to blossom.

It's weird.

Which do you think will come out on top in the end?

Those who bribe and throw money around to get their ways.

Or those who does things slowly and break promise here and there.

Nintendo has already come out on top. Their weaker, weirder, non-hi def system has made much money where the other 2 have lost billions. Y'ask me, I say we're gonna have Nintendo on top with Sony and Microshaft taking a draw for 2nd place.

Judging by what Microsoft, Standard Oil, Halliburton, etc. have shown, it takes a LOT to take down the guy who throws around money to get their way...

I dont think Microsoft has ANY intention of making money on any xbox. They want to take down sony and corner the game market, and they have shown they are willing to drop the GDP of a small country to do it (about $8 billion so far).

It's not impossible though. Vince McMahon did it.

It's times like this that I wish the 360 was stable. Then it wouldn't be such a slap in the face to buy one. It's just hard to want to spend money on something you know can and WILL break. Argh.

Yeah well I hope this rpg is close but I doubt it. For once I just want sony to say "hey we got a couple new exclusives lined up and they are 3 months away or 5 months even 6 to 8." But no the case is always 1 and a half to 2 years. I just want games quick and now. And im sick of the lame ass excuse of waiting long makes the game better. Yeah haze got delayed like 4 or 5 times and it was a MASSIVE shit fest. With the time they delayed it they could have made it halfway decent. I hate to be a complainer and im sorry, but goddamn. I just want some rpgs that M$ wont get their grubby hands on.

I'm getting great, diverse titles on my PS3. I don't know what PS you have. Maybe you have been blinded by emotion from 3rd party exclusive going away across the board (about 11 titles for the Xbox and 8 titles for the PS). That's right. MS has lost MORE exclusives to Sony than Sony has to MS. It just seems like people's emotions are too wrapped up in this "collapse of 3rd party exclusives."

MS counts on people being emotional sheep. They make one announcement about FFXIII being available on both consoles and watch eyes glaze over. It's a shame really. I never would have thought people were this easy to manipulate. These are nothing more than HD DVD type tactics. MS is much smaller than Sony. MS doesn't have anywhere near the amount of internal developers that Sony has. MS doesn't have the quarterly or yearly operational budget that Sony is currently using (ask me if you want to see the numbers...it's not even close).

All MS has on Sony is a head start. That's all. And, that's quickly going away. Sony has more exclusives this year than MS has. The games on the PS3 have demonstrated abilities beyond that of the X360 and constantly getting better. The hardware functionality of the PS3 as way beyond that of the X360.

You think there won't be lots of RPGs to hit the PS3 platform because MS and their fanboys have planted that thought in your head with their recent actions. To think a lot of games aren't coming to the PS3 this year and X360 will is not rational thinking. It's certainly not based on current, released information.

Another thing is that RPGs don't sell as well as other genres, so it will take a while for TONS of them to be released on the PS3 platform. This is a business, after all. Several RPGs are suppose to be touching down this year.

Looking at the facts (no faith required), you should see there is nothing to be envious of on the X360 side of the fence (unless you like feeling envious). They only have a few more RPGs than the PS3 now and they had a year head start.

People...just try not to be emotional manipulated by MS. They specialize in making people think from an emotional place (where logic is not king). Look at the past HD war and recognize the patterns.
