My vote's for Heath Ledger all the way! I have seen both No Country for Old Men and The Dark Knight, and while Javier Bardem's Anton Chigurh in "No Country" was cold, calculating, and sociopathic, he just wasn't menacing enough for me to be my favorite villain. And that's why I picked Heath Ledger's Joker in The Dark Knight, because Heath just had it all: the right combination of madness with his method acting, bringing a more edgy, yet twitchier approach to an anarchic, punk-rock, almost junkie version of The Joker. In fact, in comparing The Dark Knight to 1989's "Batman", when it came to Jack Nicholson playing The Joker in the '89 film, he was cracking jokes. But in Heath's world, The Joker was cracking skulls and loving every second of it!!

Both of them are freaking crazy! I would say the Ledger because in the movie he lived and didn't give an "F" about getting hurt by Batman iun the jail or even in the street scene where he is mumbling that he wants Batman to hit him.

I went with Anton Chigurh, but I think he and Two Face would have been a better match-up. I'd have to flip a coin for that one.

I gotta go with the Joker here. Pit these two against each other and the Joker would be doing things with that air gun that Chigurh would have never thought of.

I have to give the edge to the Joker.
Anton is indeed feral and animalistic, but he goes around and kills people because he thinks he's doing destiny's plan. Anton feels "obligated" to kill these people. The Joker, in the other hand, creates all these mindgames, because it's fun and not even thinking of the collateral damage. That for me is cold, to find cruel acts as such as something fun. |
