Default Onkyo 606 or 705?

I seriously don't know which to buy.
I was set on the 705 because I thought it upscaled to 1080p but I just found out it doesn't.
So which would give me the best upscaled picture?
I don't care about the 10 watts more per channel. THX certification, pfft.
So what else is left?
On the other hand the 606 is newer, has one more HDMI.
What do you guys think?
Thanks.

I think they are very similar in capabilities. As for upscaling, I would not rely on the receiver to perform this task.

...if you have a chance maybe look into an 805? (only 720p upscaling, but awesome DAC's)

I've always been told to spend less on your receiver and put more into the speaker upgrade.

well, if I had to choose I would get the 606.

spec wise the 705 does not give much more. Get new generation.

The 705 does have some advantages over the 606, but the 606 is this years model. personally between the 2 Id take the 705, which I did!

power and THX?

well, you'd need more power to notice an audible difference, and THX is not that much of an improvement, especially if the entire setup is not THX certified.

True, but I didnt pay much more for the 705 than the 606 retails for. also the remote is alot better.
