Dear All,
This is my first posting. I checked this forum before, but unfortunately I couldn't find our product information. Please allow me to post it by myself. I believe this information will be useful for somebody. This is not the advertising purpose. I just would like to let you guys know this news. (Web master, if you recognize this thread as our advertising, please delete it. We don't want to infringe you and this forum members directly and indirectly.) I-O DATA DEVICE, INC. announced BRD-M2 series, "Blu-ray Disc" writing and reading drives for PC, both in Japan and the United States on 21st April 2006. BRD-M2 series are equipped with Panasonic SW-5582 Blu-ray RW drive. Blu-ray Disc can store 50 gigabytes (*1) of data equivalent to 4-hour high definition 1080i video file recorded by an HD video camcorder. Also it is an ideal solution for backup of large data in PC. Included in the package is very user-friendly software for high definition video editing, recording, disc burning and playing. I-O DATA has had 4 consecutive years of Japan's largest market share in Read/Write DVD Section (*2) and continues to release valuable and affordable products for professional video studio and home theater. (*1) In the case of BD-R/RE dual layer. (*2) BCN ranking 2002 to 2005. If you need more information, please try to go to our web site, http://www.iodata.com/usa/. We welcome Blu-ray fun's visiting. Thanks a lot. Last edited by I-O DATA USA; 05-04-2006 at 09:52 PM. |

Dear Phloyd,
Thank you for the prompt response. Now we have not released additional info (bundle software, spec list, and so on). But when we update something, I'll return to this thread, and let everybody know. Thank you. Quote:

There's a heck of a concept - a manufacturer coming to a site specifically about their type of product to give out some news and information. Don't know about webmaster's opinion, but a BIG thumbs up from me on the information.
Self advertising? Heck, we've all been advertising for Sony, Pioneer, Samsung, and Panasonic very well on our own - good to hear from the horses mouth for once! ![]() |

I'm curious if there's even one reason to get this instead of the Panasonic itself.

Dear AV_Integrated and whom it may be concerned,
As I told on the first thread... If this forum web master minds this thread, please delete all this thread. I believed everybody might be flustrated with the current situation that PC's add-on Blu-ray products had not came in yet. So I just wanted to let you know. If you feel something bad, we really apologize for you guys. But please understand that we were not going to do that. Also our information is not SPAM type advertising. I-O DATA honestly keep warming up the Blu-ray technology and market with everybody and Panasonic. We respect this forum policy sincerely and will follow this web master's judgement. Thank you. Quote:

Dear Phloyd,
Panasonic and I-O DATA have already concluded the specific contract. Both shipping-out date should be exactly same. We don't know Panasonic's shipping areas (we cannot say anything, even if we know). Anyhow, Panasonic's and I-O DATA's will come up in the same timing. Somebody has still misunderstood something... Panasonic product is different from ours even though our package (product) is built by Panasonic drive. I-O DATA always features the "ready to use" concept. It means you can use it just after opening the package (no additional cost required). Our product will come with different color design (featured BLACK color), one (1) of TDK BR-DE 25GB disc for free, some valued software bundled. Also Panasonic doesn't have USB external models. Today we updated more information on our web site (based on I-O DATA Japan's information). To be honest with you, US models may be changed from this spec. But you guys may be able to learn more about I-O DATA's BRD series. If you have some interests, please see this page: http://www.iodata.com/usa/products/p...EV&pId=BRD-UM2 Again, this is I-O DATA Japan's model spec. The US ones may be different little bit (especially for software features). Do you guys still think about my comment as I-O DATA advertising? I just wanted let you know the correct information. The brand-new technology always confuses you with a lot of rumors. I hate such a confusion. Thank you. Have a nice weekend. Quote:

I think that people here are happy to see information directly from the manufacturer. Thanks for your participation.
As long as the information is relevant and in the appropriate place, I don't think it is considered advertising. The Moderators would have acted already if this was the case. In my view the more information the better! ![]() Looking forward to seeing these on the shelves... Cheers! |

Dear phloyd and nyg,
Thank you very much for the kind words on your post. To be honest with you guys, we don't expect to sell this HIGH cost product a lot in 2006. For advertising, we are planning to do for specific usages (e.g. high def video creatiors). It's our different scenario. But Bru-ray.com is a leader forum in this Blue Lazer Optical Storage market. We are wondering if our info is one of warming up Blu-ray Disc market. And finally all these Blu-ray products will make you happy. Again, I don't recommend you to buy our product at this time. Ours is the lowest price and this product spec is suitable for this price now, but anyway too expensive for almost people. We will keep trying to cost down and then to provide more affordable product for all Blu-ray funs' expectation. But... it might be on the end of this year or later, you can guess. If you have any question (I love to talk about more technical / market things with you guys), please feel free ask for me. Or invite me after making another thread. Thanks a lot. Have a nice week!
