United Kingdom Which Cut Of Watchmen Is Best?

Im thinking of getting Watchmen, and there are 2 versions available in the UK the standard one with 3 discs which includes a digital copy or the directors cut that is 2 discs but without the digital copy, so what one shall i go for, is the directors cut really that much better?

Thanks Ben x

Director's cut definitely the best buy over here. If you have the cash, you could get the Region-free Ultimate set from the US, as someone else suggested.

This has been asked before, and the previous thread has some good info on both of these releases:
https://forum.blu-ray.com/blu-ray-mo...imate-cut.html

Have you seen The Watchmen yet, or Tales of the Black Freighter?

The Ultimate Cut interlaces the Tales of the Black Freighter story into the Director's Cut of Watchmen. If you have not seen either, then you will find out that one is live action and one is animated, but there is no real relationship between the two films; i.e. there are no characters that they share. Tales of the Black Freighter does show up in the Director's Cut, but it is simply shown as a comic book or posters here and there. I own the Director's Cut and Tales of the Black Freighter, and I think I prefer both of these films separate instead of together. I haven't actually seen the Ultimate Cut, so I can't say with certainty that I would like it.

The Ultimate Cut also includes the motion graphic novel, and some other features that are present in the DC and TOTBF releases. There is a sample of the motion graphic novel in my copy of TOTBF, and I did not care for it at all. If you are a huge fan of Watchmen, then the Ultimate Cut will give you the most bang for your buck. It would have been perfect if they would have been able to include the Director's Cut with it, then you would have the option of watching it with TOTBF or without.

EDIT: Oops, my bad, I misunderstood the OP in thinking he was asking about the Director's Cut or the Ultimate Cut. I'd definitely go with the Director's Cut over the standard one. If you are a huge fan of Watchmen, and you like having the TOTBF woven into the film, then seek out the Ultimate Cut. Personally, I like The Director's Cut, and the perferct release for that one is the SteelBook from Canada. It is a 3-disc set, 2 BD and 1 digital copy disc.

Well I have both versions, and while the three disc set is good, the Director's Cut is by far better, so I'd recommend the Director's Cut, or both.

I think the Directors Cut is much more preferred, I've only got the Theatrical cut though

Director's Cut.
The Ultimate Cut was a little too wanky for my tastes. Hated the Black Freighter stuff.

Yeah, I don't mind Black Freighter on it's own, but not interwoven. Runins the flow of the story honestly.

Have owned all 3 versions. I would say the Directors Cut is the best.

I like the Ultimate Cut, probably because I also liked the Black Freigther in the graphic novel. Anyways I'd say the Director's cut is the better version of the movie because of that I own both the Ultimate Cut and the CA Steel for the Director's Cut.

EDIT: Also the US/CA Release of the Director's Cut have the awesome Ultimate Movie Mode included
