We have one and it works great and is very easy to program. You just transfer the programming from one to the other.

The question is: Are you satisfied with the 550? If so, I don't really a reason to ditch the 550 for the One (unless you really want a color display, a better layout/look and the rechargeable battery)...

Perhaps I'm missing a feature of the One? But I don't really see what it would do better.

I have a 520 and a 550, and I'm pretty satisfied. They do everything I want!

I sold my 880 to get a One. I love it. Buttons are layed out and feel much better. I recently purchased an PS3 IR Pro and now I'm truly living in a one remote world. If you have the cash I say go for it.

Default harmony One

I would say it is worth it. The remote works great, not suprises for me and best of all even my 5 year old can use it. For me it simply works for controlling my modest home theater system (7.1 Yamaha, 50" Plasma, DirecTV HD DVR, BD-30, DVD Recorder, VHS, CD Player...)

I had an 880 and moved it to a different room to get the 1. I like the 1, but the touch screen can be a little difficult at times. It is easy to hit the wrong thing and you really have to look at what you're hitting. However, I'd buy it again in a heartbeat and recommend it.

I'm just curious why you'd want to spend $150 on a remote.... after being adamant about getting the best "budget" system you could find

Word. $150 is a lot for a remote, even if you weren't cutting corners. I know I would have a hard time explaining it to the wife......

I still don't understand what makes the Harmony One so much better than let's say the Harmony 550.

From what I can see, the additional characteristics are:
- Color LCD touchscreen (with icons and description);
- Rechargeable battery;
- Ergonomic layout.

In Canada, the Harmony One sells for 240$ and I just bought (but I can still return it) the 550 for 80$. I'm sold on Harmony remotes once you go through the configuration and after a few adjustments to meet your specifics needs they work like a charm. But I don't necessarily see the huge benefit of the One versus other models like the 550. I have a 520 and recently purchase a 550 for my new setup and I'm completely satisfied.

So the question is, what is the difference that gives the Hamony One a "really good" rating versus a "not bad" rating for the 550? I mean the color LCD is Great but the functionality is the same, or is it?

I don't want to start a huge debate over this, I just want to understand what is so great about it and maybe I'll decide that I need one too :P

Convincing a wife to get a Harmony remote is simple, you just need to tell her that she will actually be able to watch TV without having to ask you to turn it on for her!

(I don't mean to offense anyone but I know for a fact that when someone is not technology oriented, turning on the receiver, the tv and the DVR and then selecting the correct input, etc. can be challenging)
