Microsoft has already messed up their opening

The price cut is only until they run out of 20Gb models, and the new 60Gb model is back at the old price $349.
On top of that, they are giving the Europeans (at least for now) a big F-U, because neither the new price or the new models are scheduled there for now.

and why the hell do 3rd's party always show off there games for 360? capcom just did this with RE5 at e3.

Probably because E3 is an American show and they feel that the American maket is still dominated (total sales, number wise) by the 360.
My gut feeling is that it might be a very different story at next year's E3.
That or MS gave a bit of change money around to showcase multiplatform games on 360 primarily, like it would be a big surprise

They do care, but they're just not as desperate as MS.

MS would go for any game to be exclusive, even the crappy ones. While Sony on the other hand seem to single out their exclusive stretegy, they go for games they have highest hopes in.

RE5 don't count, seeing as RE4 was never exclusive to begin with.

I don't think Sony is interested in getting into a spending war with M$ on timed exclusivity or add on content. From what I can tell, Sony is basically conceding that "hey, if you want to spend the cash go ahead. We're not interested."

As far as companies showcasing their games on 360, either the 360 is still the lead platform for development of these cross-platform titles or it's money hats. I saw a commercial just the other day for a game (I forget which one) that was on both PS3 and 360. Yet at the end of the commercial, the ONLY platform that it showed avaliable for was the 360. I wanted to scream at the tv "It's for PS3 too idiots!!"
