Default Crimes of the Future (2022)

Quote:
Even though this year sees the release of Viggo Mortensen’s directorial debut, “Falling,” it would appear that the actor-turned-filmmaker’s career in front of the camera is far from over. In fact, according to Mortensen, he already has his heart set on reteaming with a frequent collaborator, David Cronenberg, for a new film maybe next year.

Speaking at this year’s Lumiere Film Festival in France, Mortensen shared his desire to team up with Cronenberg for a new film sometime in 2021. Of course, no details were shared about what film that might be or if it’s just wishful thinking. However, just the idea of the actor and director teaming up for the fourth time is enough for us to get excited. [+]

I really hope so. I'd love to see Cronenberg direct another film.

We really need a remaster of a History of Violence. It's never looked good on home video here in the US. Not sure how the rest of world fared w/ it.

While at it, remaster Eastern Promises. Mortensen's dick in 4K,

Viggo Mortensen Calls His New Film With David Cronenberg A “Strange Film Noir” That Recalls The Director’s “Origins”

Quote:
“It’s something he wrote a long time ago, and he never got it made,” said the actor. “Now he’s refined it, and he wants to shoot it. Hopefully, it’ll be this summer we’ll be filming. I would say, without giving the story away, he’s going maybe a little bit back to his origins.”

Maybe he'll settle for Brandon Cronenberg instead? After watching Possessor, he sure has a promising career ahead of him.

Cronengberg is an absolutely majestic director. His last few films have been masterworks. The refinement of his style and direction is breathtaking.

He could easily work with both! Or all three! David’s daughter, Caitlin is a professional photographer and probably taken Viggo’s picture!

I haven't liked a Cronenberg movie since A Dangerous Method. I say this with no relish, as I used to be a big fan.

Well at least you liked A Dangerous Method! I really like Cosmopolis and Maps to The Stars! Maybe give them a second look sometime.

I'm all in for Cronenberg but I personally enjoyed Map To The Stars but didn't like Cosmopolis, found it dull.

He has give us a lot of quality films and I really dig his style tho, he's a great director for sure!

I'm in for another Cronenberg romp. I enjoy everything he's done. Like literally everything. I enjoy when he challenges himself and does something different.

This would be a dream for me.

My son is my film buddy, and we were JUST discussing how excited we were that Scorsese is finally getting "Killers of the Flower Moon" off the ground soon, and we were going over a few new films we are excited about, including Terrence Malick's "The Way of the Wind" (AKA 'The Last Planet'), which has been teased as a retelling of several episodes in the life of Christ, 'with a dark genre twist' , and features Mark Rylance as Satan (how can you NOT be intrigued???); "The Card Counter", exec. prod. by Scorsese, and written and directed by Paul Schrader, with Oscar Isaac and Willem Dafoe; "Cry Macho", an old school Clint Eastwood with Eastwood starring; Paul Thomas Anderson's new 70s high school romp; Woody Allen's "Rifkin's Festival"; and several other things.

At the end of it, I was just saying how sad I was that Cronenberg doesn't have a new film coming out, and may not make another film.

Now, I hear this. (I missed this thread last Fall, so this is all new to me!).

I really, really hope this happens. I, too, love ALL Cronenberg films.
