Another of the Oscar contenders: Universal will release the "Sky Cinema Original" Promising Young Woman on Blu-ray in August.
Quote:
It's a shame this film has gone straight to Sky Cinema/NOW, delayed by a year from its intended release prior to the pandemic, and it won't be offered to cinemas to screen at all. And for a broadcast and streaming release, it seems silly to have to wait another four months for the next release window. I'm tempted to import the US Blu-ray in the meantime (it was also released in Australia.) Last edited by BigNickUK; 04-26-2021 at 08:25 AM. |

The special features on the OZ disc are:
A Promising Ensemble A Promising Story A Promising Vision Two-Sided Transformation Balancing Act Feature Commentary with Writer/Director Emerald Fennell I'd be surprised if the UK disc doesn't have the same or more. |

The first two appear to be absent from the US release?
A Promising Ensemble - 2 minutes on YouTube A Promising Story - 2 minutes on YouTube Unless they reauthor a new disc to add a Sky Movie Special or something similar I would expect this to be identical to the US release |

I would agree, although Universal released Hotel Mumbai in both the US and UK (Sky Cinema over here), and they weren't the same disc as the UK added the Sky Movie Special. Also, some Pathe titles that were released through Fox in the US, distributed by Fox in the UK, end up being different discs e.g. Slumdog Millionaire, 127 Hours. But yes, I'm expecting it to be the same. It's also happened where a UK StudioCanal release ends up with different extras than StudioCanal released elsewhere in Europe, e.g. Logan Lucky.

By the way, on Hotel Mumbai, I found a back cover, but this review claims that the UK disc is identical to the US release: https://www.avforums.com/reviews/hot...y-review.17132 I wonder if the extras might be identical, but marketed differently? EDIT: Never mind, the US extras don't add up to the 19 minutes stated on the UK back cover. Well, I certainly hope that the forthcoming UK disc of Promising Young Woman might be different to the US one. If it has different extras I might even buy it. I enjoyed the film, even if I found it a little corny at times. Last edited by McCrutchy; 06-19-2021 at 07:07 PM. |
