Far Cry: The Wild Expedition Revealed as Compilation

Ubisoft has revealed Far Cry: The Wild Expedition is a compilation of several games in the series.

Due out on February 11 in North America for $39.99 under the moniker Far Cry Compilation, the bundle will launch in Europe on February 14 on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC, the bundle is set to include the original Far Cry, Far Cry 2, Far Cry 3 and the recent spin-off Blood Dragon.

While a final price for Europe has yet to be confirmed, it's safe to assume it should be cheaper than buying all four games individually. We've reached out to Ubisoft for specifics and will update when we hear back.

Ubisoft has announced Far Cry Compilation, a collection of several games in the series.

Due out on February 11 in North America for $39.99, the bundle is set to include Far Cry 2, Far Cry 3 and the recent spin-off Blood Dragon.

Reports from Eurogamer list a product called "Far Cry: The Wild Expedition", due out February 14th, that supposedly includes a version of the original Far Cry as well as Far Cry 2, 3, and Blood Dragon. CVG elaborates that Far Cry: The Wild Expeditions was listed (with pricing and date information) on official Ubisoft retail release calendars; the site was able to confirm with its Ubisoft contacts that Far Cry: The Wild Expeditions is planned for Xbox 360 and PC as well as PS3 and is supposed to include all four products. It is unclear why the North American Far Cry plans only included a PS3 release, and why no mention of Far Cry Classic was made in the Far Cry Compilation announcement.

A listing for a product called Far Cry Classic was once listed on Xbox.com as an XBLA title as part of the 2013 Summer of Arcade (the listing has since been pulled,) and Ubisoft also released to the press at E3 2013 official poster art and production assets from this product, but as of this writing, the title was not formally "announced" with any release date or platform plans (beyond Xbox 360, unless it is an exclusive release) outlined; requests for a status update about Far Cry Classic from Ubisoft were met with the response, "No news on [Far Cry Classic] at this time".

We've reached out to Ubisoft for further specifics about Far Cry Compilation, Far Cry Classic, and Far Cry: The Wild Expedition, and will update when we hear back.

Yeah, that was my understanding, which makes it even worse of a deal.

Even if it had the original Farcry I still wouldn't buy it on PS3.

Anyone DL Classic from PSN yet, and if so any thoughts?

Yeah, I got it and I'm enjoying playing it. I never completed it on the PC so after the first hour or so everything has been new to me. Heh, I forgot just how relentless the helicopters and AI can be at times once they've noticed you. IMO, the graphics are starting to show its age a little bit, especially with up-close textures but it still looks really good at times, especially outdoors and the night-time graphics look really nice. It still very much impresses at times and the gameplay has been fun. I'm only about 35-40% or so done so far though. I have noticed a few issues. The framerate is less than ideal occasionally and I've noticed some flashing (mostly ground) textures at times. Last night, I think it was, the sound also got pretty quiet in the center channel during one section so I had to bump up the volume but later on, it was back to normal. So, there have been little things like that but nothing that has detracted from me enjoying the game and ha, it has also made me jump a few times so I enjoyed that aspect of it as well. I'm happy with the purchase.

I don't remember it being so tricky, but it's been years since I first played it. That AI is a little tough sometimes, sheesh. I've had it lock up on me 2 times, but overall I'm enjoying it. Only $10, too.
