Default Onkyo 805 - Multichannel or not?

I've had my home theater set-up for just over a month, and I love it! The 805 sounds awesome. I still get goosebumps everytime I hear a movie in DTS HD MA or PCM Uncompressed Audio.

My question is this: Is Multichannel the best way to hear Blu-Rays? I haven't really tried any of the other settings, but last night during the end credits of 'Persepolis' I switched through the various Surround Sound Modes and started to wonder if some of them would enhance the already awesome sound.

There are a couple of "Theater" and "THX Cinema" settings. Do you guys use any of those? I think Pure Audio is a good way to go for concert discs, but I'm still not sure.

What are your thoughts?

I guess you are talking about the listening modes.Normally this is my setting.I have a 5.1 set up..

DTS HDMA = DTS HDMA
DOLBY true HD = Dolby True HD
Dolby digital = Dolby Digital
DTS = DTS
Dolby 2.0 = Neural THX 5.1

Normally i listen in the same listening modes as it decodes except for dolby 2.0 which again can be decoded into 5.1 channels.

Again it depends on each and everyones taste.

Huh?

I'm talking about the Surround Mode Sound Setting on the Onkyo 805. I have my PS3 hooked up via HDMI, so the PS3 does the audio decoding. I've had my receiver set to 'Multichannel' which sounds awesome, but I noticed the receiver has several other surround modes.

I'm not sure how to present it any clearer than that...

I like THX Cinema mode on my Pio Elite. But you might not...

Test each sound mode out, you may like one more than another...and you may not necessarily agree with other user opinions. Its more personal preference than anything.

Ok i got it..Yes you can change them however you want it..But its good to leave it as it is in multichannel so that you are hearing the original losseless HD audio. But you can play around to see which one suits you better.Do you have a 5.1 or 7.1 set up?

Again +1 for multi channel
