Default Crank vs. Shoot 'Em Up: Better Film? Better PQ?

Looking for some help on this one. My 16 year-old nephew just got himself a PS3 to join our little BD universe and has asked me for a disc for his birthday. I know he loves the kind of films that Crank and Shoot 'Em Up are; campy, violent, frentic, etc. In researching what might be best I came across these 2 as finalists and am going to get him one of the two, but can't decide which.

Both flicks have their ardent followers/promoters and as it turns out through my reading and looks at screencaps, both seem to contain reference PQ as well. So, I was thinking I buy both, give him the one that he would like most as a movie and keep the other as a demo disc. So, my simple questions are:

1). Which movie would get your vote as better/more fun?
2). Which would get your vote as having better PQ on BD?

Thanks in advance...

My vote is for Shoot Em Up in both categories. You can't go wrong with either though.

I am leaning twords Crank in both regards, as I enjoyed that one way more for me personally. Shoot Em Up looks ridiculously good too, though.

Crank. Excellent re-play value. Shoot "em up has great PQ/AQ but the story is ridiculously stupid and I don't know if many people can watch it more than once. Crank has better PQ anyway's.

I haven't seen Shoot 'Em Up on BD, so I didn't vote. However, I definitely prefer Crank a lot more. Shoot 'Em Up annoyed the hell out of me. Yes, I know it's a parody, but it still got to me. I really wanted to like it as I love the main cast.

I'd go with Crank, if it were me.

That's why like Shoot Em' Up more than Crank, it is nothing but pure entertainment, no thinking involved. I've watched Shoot Em' Up more than Crank and I personally feel it is the better film but I agree that Crank has better PQ although S.E.U is also fantastic in PQ.

Shoot 'Em Up was a better movie and I think it had better PQ as well. The sound in Crank was very off. Overall, it was faint in a few places and the dialogue, specifically in the beginning, sounded like it was recorded in a cardboard box.

Not sure of the PQ aspect but my vote would be Shoot Em Up 10x over Crank. I thought crank was just horrible.

Shoot 'Em Up is the better film and has the better PQ! Even though I've seen Crank, I don't have it on Blu-ray. So I can't say much about the Crank Blu-ray.

Wow, thanks for all of the opinions... I feared it might be close and so far it's a dead heat. Might be a flip of the coin in the end.

Hey Banjo, I know its not really a big deal since your nephew is 16, but both movies have nudity in them. Don't know if the parents will come after you for that or not

I think the two are very close in terms of PQ, but some scenes in CRANK are just more standout. I also agree that CRANK has way more replay value. Both are good, but CRANK is better.

I don't make decisions.

Be the ultimate uncle and buy both.

Then give him beer.

I remember my little neices 2nd Christmas. I had no idea what to buy a chick that age.

The lady at Kay•Bee was all..."Well...here we have a fisher price playset with a horse and a fence.."

I'm all "F that shit, gimmie the palatial estate playset!!!

Big hit...her dad still hates me!!! I earned her love the old fashioned way, but I full on PURCHASED her devotion.
