Default Netflix pricing...really going up?

long time reader (sort of), first time poster... After years of buying DVD's, I haven't found buying to be worth it anymore - they just sit and gather dust- so I was with Netflix. But after reading some posts that they were going to raise the price for Blu users, I switched to Blockbuster Online. Well, their shipping times didn't impress me, so we went back to Netflix. I haven't seen anything that officially says they are going to raise the price, nor have they done it yet. Does anyone have actual proof they are, or is it just assumed? I don't mind paying a small amount more, but nothing significant.

The CEO stated that they WOULD be raising prices. He did not say when or by how much. I have called and asked and they have no concrete info at this time.

I'm on the three disk plan right now, and I have an offer showing $.61 more for 4 disks. Three is plenty but, still very reasonable. I love Netflix and unless it is a significant increase wouldn't be bothered much. I figure for $16-$17 a month, this would be like three in store rentals at Blockbuster. I use the instant access every weekday at work as I have a great job that allows me to watch TV/Movies while I am working so it more than pays for itself.

Make sure you research that price because they always offer you whatever the remaining length of your month is on top of your current price to go to the next level, but that is for the remainder of that month only. For example, I have the 1 at a time plan and sometimes it says get 2 at a time for 38 cents more, but that is only for the remaining like 6 days of the month or something, then it is full price the next month. Check into it.

I gave a year subscription to a friend as a gift. How will they manage the price increase on that.

Well, I can see that it could happen, but I guess I'll just have to believe it when I see it.

Still cheaper than renting. I get 5-6 movies a week from them. Say I get 4 to make it easy. 4x4=16 movies a month. That would be 95.84 at 5.99 a pop for each Blu rental. Netflix is still way cheaper.

You are kidding right? If you're not, do you know what the price on the 1 and 2 plans will be?

Holy @#$% !!!!!!!!!!!! I have the three rental plan too, and that is over a 60% increase in price! That would be like gas jumping from $4 to $6.40 overnight! If that is truly the price, I'm going to have to switch plans too.

WOW I agree...I may go down to the 2-Disc plan at that price increase.

If that is true, I will most likely cancel. That is unacceptable. I would hope more would cancel also, but I doubt it would do any good anyway.

I don't think you are going to see price increases like that, people would be heading straight to BlockBuster.

Is there a way to easily import/export your Netflix queue to a newly opened Blockbuster account? If that post wasn't a joke, I'll be switching to Blockbuster, but if the post was a joke and the price will increase by only one or two dollars then I'll stick with Netflix just cuz of the hassle of setting up a new queue (I have about 100 flicks in it)
