Default Looking at some Definitives...

Anyone have any Definitive speakers, specifically The Mythos 3 center and the promonitor 800 speakers? Is there a better brand for the cost or do these deliver as well as the demonstration I just heard?

Sandy Gross from def tech has the BP30's and he has ATMA-SPHERE pre amp amd amps and its sound is to die for, but the pre amps and amps from ATMA-SPHERE will cost as much as a few houses, and the speakers need to be at least 4 feet from the back walls, so I got the BP10's and I onlt use them in 2ch for music, no sub is needed

I've got promonitor 800's and they sound great. Everytime a new movie drops on Blu-ray my friends are asking me when can they come over for movie night. I've Listened to Klipsch and Polk speakers plenty of times and In my opinion their not as good as def tech. I've listened to the def tech BP7002 towers and yeah you really don't need a subwoofer with those. My friend and I were at Magnolia and the rep put on XM sat radio liquid metal and cranked it up. I looked over at my friend smiling and his jaw was dropped. It sounded like we were standing at a concert. They are incredible speakers, a little costly but extremely worth every penny!

I have a 14" reference series Subwoofer from them, and have listened to some of their other speakers...... they're nice for the price. I'm sure they won't let you down.

Love the Def Techs, as is probably obvious from my sig. The ProMonitor 800 is a great little surround, as is the 1000. In my experience, an excellent value - highly recommended.

I have Def Tech in a 7.1 system. I would not trade them for anything. Well, I would not say that but definately not in the same price range. I believe for movie playback they are the best in that price. I do believe that there may be better for music playback like the Polk Audio LSi series. Which I have had. But my home theater is probably for 90% movies.

EQUIP:
Denon AVR4308ci
Denon DVD3930ci
Pioneer BDP95FD
Samsung 5084 1080p
Def Tech BP7002's, CLR2500, UIW BPZ/A (2), UIW 94/A (2)
Richard Grays 600s Power Conditioner
Monster HTS 5100 MK2
No Sub Needed

Default Thanks...

Thanks all for the advice. I'm going to go pick up 4 promonitor 800s, a mythos 3 center and the powersub 800. Appreciate the great feedback and I finally made it through a thread without some douchebag pointing out my mistakes. +1...YEAH!

Check to see what ohms those speakers are. If they are 6 or 8 ohms, you'll be fine. If they're less, you need to make sure your receiver can handle that kind of load.

You mean the Yamaha RX-V3800? If so, then don't worry about the speakers.

Yes,Sorry thats what i meant.

I got a question for you king,

Iam a little confused with this sp[eakers. What iam thinking is leaving the sub and front speakers where they are(all in the front)in the avr leave it to crossover 60hz(on the sub crossover is 150hz) set the rears to large to take advantage of the powered subs in them.Sound about right? So all my speakers to small ,rears to large? (Ive never had speakers with powered sub in them before)

Yeah, you can do that. If you want, you can see which setting you like better, but since they are so powerful, you might just want to put them on large.

Ha Ha Ha!!!!!! !!!!!!! Whoaaaa!!!! You're bringing the heat!!! The Mirage M-5si's??? These are capable of subwoofer lows all by themselves!!! What are you using for a center channel Ozzman? As far as I can tell, you need to set your rears and your fronts to Large and set your crossover to nothing more than 60hz. I have my crossover set to 40hz (not lacking power and all of my speakers can go that low with the exception of my back rears which I have set to small (but they come real close to 40hz also). Do you have a sub in this Bipolar fest (pun intended )? Great speakers, Mirage (old school) Def Tech - this system should go very low - without subs.
All of your speakers are Bipolar so far - they just need room to breath and they will perform very well !

Thanks Brother. the only thing is i live in Canada the duty alone will kill me.Thats the problem.I never order from the states for that reason and that reason alone .But thanks anyway,

Ive been using a paradigm cc-270(not the best center for my set up but it does a half decent job.)Ive been on the search for a mc-si center down here in Canada Twice its slipped through my fingers .(in Do time) I love older Mirage speakers. You suggest go large with them but their's a lot that say go small. Its like a tug of war on who's right?

Thanks for having my back with those m-5si they would be nice with my fronts.
