I voted about two hours ago in the poll...which I found in the rdjam/is/an/hddvd/zealot section of FUD.com
Leave it to them to keep the poll on the down low.

Bah... all this FUD and misinformation being fired back and forth so fast on a 6½ minute interview clip... feh. >_<

They're such weenies. They play up the apathetic "it doesn't mater, high-def media will fail anyway" stance, as well as the crock about downloadable media sweeping the market and being "the wave of the future." Yeesh. I'm not that old, but I've certainly heard enough "wave of the future" predictions in my lifetime that have never come close to fruition. What infuriating, half-baked coverage on the topic.

Also, the website mentioned Bill Hunt was to appear on the show with the HR editor... what happened to him? Why'd we get that dorky apathetic kid, instead?

Question Anyone watch AOTS Feb 14?

FYI# 1. AOTS - Attack of the Show on G4TV
2. AOTS - The Loop Brief Info

I couldn't watch all of it but from what I can understand, one dude was more honest and looked at the war as a consumer better than most people. The other one was so MS that he said that downloadable movies are the future and that the war was stupid. In the end though, the first man said that BR would win with a big IF, and the other said he could care less and supports downloading. If anyone has seen this or has this TiVo'ed, please tell me your opinions.

Default Check out this video interview about Blu-ray VS hd dvd...

I just saw it. Watch it and comment it if you like.
Its very interesting. I dont think that the left-hand guy is up to date with his info, but in the end the smarter guy (on the right) says that Blu-ray will win.

Yea, the guy on the left is exactly what I picture when I read the HD-DVD rants over at AVS.

The other guy seemed to be pretty reasonable and on target but I don't agree with the idea that downloads will be the next choice for consumers. I think there are too many situations where a downloaded movie on a hard drive is less convenient that on a physical disc. You couldn't give it as a gift, loan it to a friend, or take it with you while traveling just to mention a few. While you could copy movies off to a portable device, the time to copy several 50G discs would be a lot less convenient than grabbing 5 cases off your shelf.

Content protection also seems to be getting very tight so I would suspect that they wouldn't allow consumer devices to be able to easily copy downloaded movies.

There's also the fact that movies are probably going to be getting even bigger with 200G capacity discs looming on the horizon. If deep color arrives, I would suspect file sizes to increase significantly to deliver it.

Default The guy on the left . . .

. . . is what I picture a lot of the XBOX fanboys to be like.

He wasn't even qualified to be in that interview. He was spouting nothing but his opinion with nothing to back it up.

"Blu-ray is failing, PS3 is failing, PS3 is the biggest disaster in history . . ."

He sounds like a M$ fanboy all right.

may wanna fix that u meant the left

The guy on the right is the only creditable one to have that interview. Downloading will never take over because
1. It would take a freakish amount of time to download
2. where are you going to store all that info.
3. its gone if your system crashes
4. people hack into these systems and will download everything for free.

there is no reasonable alternative to actual disks.

That clown from gizmodo.com is a MS-DVD FUDster. He's almost as bad as this guy from gismocafe.com:
