Default DVD Burner

I'm looking to buy an External DVD Burner from Amazon. I don't know which brands are the best when it comes to this, are Samsungs good? I'm looking for a cheap one like $50 or something.

Ok, I will check it out. Might end up buying it though. Reviews say it's good. Thanks!

if you're buying external, you can use as internal & external. if you're buying internal, then its an internal. external is optional but i recommended if you have a laptop, you can also switch to hard-drive as well, or even blu-ray drive or burner. hence, buy the cheapest external dvd burner then buy the expensive internal blu-ray burner or hard-drive.

Have a look at these two if you will be using a SATA connection:

or this if you will be using IDE:

In my opinion, Newegg is THE place to buy PC hardware in the US. I've ordered a ton of items from them and never had an issue or been disappointed.

SATA and IDE are the two connection types currently used for internal mass storage devices. Are you familiar with the guts of your PC? The IDE cable (sometimes called a ribbon) is two approx. inches wide and (normally) grey in color.

If your PC is more recent there it may be using a SATA cable:

Ok, I think mine does have SATA. Does the SATA cable for the burner come with it?

Typically it will, but not always. It should tell you whats included in the box. If you built your own PC, you should have SATA cables left over from the mobo.

Ok, thanks guys. And no I didn't build my PC lol. I don't think I'm that smart.....yet.

I've decided to go with this one: -

If you guys got anymore suggestions, please post. This is my first time buying this sort of thing so I would appreciate it. Thanks for all your help!
