Pioneer HTS-GS1 for Xbox 360 - Blu-ray Forum

What's up peoples? My dad got this for me last Christmas for my PS3. It works great. I was just wanting to see what everyones opion was on this. I know it's made specifically for the xbox but it works perfectly fine with the ps3. Anyone else have it? Am I missing out on Blu Ray sound with this? I know it's not 7.1, but do I get True HD? btw, I searched and didn't find anything in the forum.

hit "Select" on your PS3 controller, it'll tell you what audio you're getting in the top right corner.... I didn't look, but I bet $1.09 that you can't get the newer codecs with that unit..... it would have to accept PCM, and I bet it doesn't

That system doesn't even have HDMI ports so there is definitely no way to get HD audio out of it. Looks like you need to upgrade!

It has a digital optical and digital coaxial therefore you can only get standard DTS and Dolby Digital as well as 2ch pcm, so yeah you're missing out on the lossless sound.

To get lossless with the PS3 you will need a receiver that accepts HDMI audio.

And if you decide to upgrade, you should probably check for some decent speakers as well. I don't want to be disrespectful, but if the cnet review says that "the sound is subpar for a home theater in a box at this price", then it must really be bad (I wouldn't trust cnet for audio components review but if it sounds bad to them...).
