Does anyone play this or did you at one time? I was just wondering because I just started playing again after a 6 month break. I had tried to play on my 46 inch Bravia, but it was too hard to read all the fonts. So i quit playing until i moved my pc back to my desk last week and got a 22 inch lcd monitor.

Guess i am the only one huh. 30.00 dollars a month for 5 years= 1800 dollars.
Worth it to me I have had some good times there. big timesink though which was why I quit playing for awhile. And it costs 15 dollars a month I have 2 accounts.

I haven't played that since it first came out. I bought the day it came out and played it for about a week and then decided 12 hours a day (which is what it takes to get anywhere in that game when you first start out) and $15 dollars a month was a huge waste. It was fun though when I was playing.

I almost had a Jedi, no thanks to SOE and their nerfing of the game.

That was my first experience with a MMORPG.

I bought it, installed it, and started out. I created a character (a brawler - does that sound right?), ran through boring woods for ten or fifteen minutes, met a bug, and died.

Repeated that twice more. Deinstalled that retarded game, cancelled my subscription. Estimated time on my system: 2 hours.

What a terrible waste of money and time.

I left right before the NGE. Hated the destruction of the player economy and the alteration of the original skill based system with the CU.

Hopefully they'll open source the original code when it's dead... I'd love to do a NWN-style small game with some buddies with the original pre-CU game with some custom skins and what not. Especially if the content from the JTL upgrade could be included.

Im with you i left right before NGE. I really didnt mind the holo-grinding since I was trying all the different classes but when they killed the economy and added the CU it was a totally different game. I remember people just on that game for the social aspect and the fun of making buildings, armor and weapons. Even tho i played EQ, Dark Ages, WOW and many others I had the most fun in SWG.

I've been playing since December '03 and have survived the CU and NGE although I very nearly quit after the NGE as they killed off my main profession.

I always thought that pre-CU was buggy as hell and never the golden era that people made it out to be. I personally thought the game was really starting to get somewhere in late 2005 after the Combat Upgrade when they pulled the plug on that incarnation.

In fairness to the current development team, (most of which came on board after the NGE) they've made a pretty commendable job of turning the game around from the disaster it was at the end of 2005. Unfortunately, SWG is probably seen as damaged goods by too many gamers for it to recover properly, and it's not getting any younger.

Shame. What a wasted opportunity.

Ditto. Tried getting back on it, but hated the gameplay.
I have a Wookiee Elder Jedi, and pre NGEI had the most fun I have ever had in my video gaming years.

I just started playing again and so far I love it. My old friends got me back into another guild. Business as usual. My problem was never friends and having something to do. My problem was the devs have thier heads up in their ass.

They know what is best for everyone without actually ever playing.
I am having a good time. It is never going to be like it was pre-cu.

With news of kotor mmorpg coming next year from bioware I wonder how long swg will hold up once that is released.

I played when it first came out and after just a few weeks had a Wookiee master commando. I quit shortly after they nerfed Beast training (or whatever its called) I would be interested in going back tho. I've been playing WOW maybe once a month waiting for WOTLK to come out in November (hopefully). Has the game changed much since the first six months or so ???
