Default new sound system opinions/advice

I am lookin to purchase my first all around sound system. So far from what i looked at to save a little cash was the ONKYO TX-SR506 7.1 receiver, Synergy Series Quintet II system, with a klipsch 10" sub. Was wondering if this would make a good setup or if i should go a different route. Input would be much appreciated, thanks

You should go for the 605 instead of the 506 that way you can take advantage of audio over hdmi.

yep, gotta have audio over HDMI

I noticed that the PS3 is your player as well so you can get HD audio if you buy a reciever that accepts audio over HDMI.

so go with the 605, is the II series alright. I was trying to save a little cash by going with the II series instead of the III. And the sub good to go as well?

there are 2 room sizes that was going to use same layout for. For me the room is 21.5ft x 13.5ft. My little brother was also looking to make the purchase which his room is only 10.5ftx10.5ft.

Should he even bother getting surround, like would it really work since its such a small room?
