Default LittleBigPlanet sequel already in the works?

http://www.ps3fanboy.com/2008/10/27/...-in-the-works/

LittleBigPlanet is right on the cusp of official release. However, before the game has a chance to spread to the wider public, word arrives that Media Molecule is already working on a sequel. That's according to BBC technology editor Darren Waters, who recently visited the Guildford-based team.

Considering that MM co-founder Alex Evans has said that LittleBigPlanet was the quickest and easiest game he's worked on, the feasibility of making a LBP2: The Return of Sackboy is very high. Then again, Waters could be talking about the PSP title. Anyway, it is way too early for gamers to start thinking about sequels ... or trilogies. Let's see how the first one does before getting into future titles, shall we?

i dunno, i'd say this rumor is for the psp game. but i could be wrong

I would think they wouldn't really need a sequel for quite a while. There are nearly limitless possibilities for DLC and expansion packs due to the nature of the game.

I agree - I would be surprised to see them seriously thinking about LBP 2 so quickly (or at all to be honest).

To make a LBP2, there really needs to be some significant changes or evolution to the game and gameplay to warrant a totally new game - and this thing is just so deep and comprehensive in it's tool set as it is that I'm not sure anyone should even have an idea of what those "enhancements" would be yet.

On the other hand - a graphically scaled down LBP for the PSP would probably be a huge hit. I wonder if they could make it in such a way that you could utilize PS3 shared level, but just with scaled back graphics - if they could pull that off it would be an amazing tie-in.

Personally instead of a LBP2 for PS3, I'd rather see a lot of purchasable content - like new story levels, building tools, stickers, etc....

I'm more than willing to toss more mony to MM and Sony for this one, I just don't see aything that would justify a whole new pressed game any time soon.

Wouldn't it be cool if we could get some themed purchasable story levels for download from other companies? I'd shell out some money for some MGS levels actually created and sold by Konami with MGS costumes and stickers. (or Kingdom Hearts or Ratchet & clank or Uncharted etc.....) They could even make it it's own little story mode that you run through in order.

I think they have to make sure LBP1 is up and running before working on a sequel. But usually they start work on the sequel shortly after they finish the first, if they plan one that is.

I could see them make more money by just releasing a ton of DLC then releasing a brand new game.

The more I think about it, the more I believe it'll just be expansion packs such as it is for World of Warcraft and such. Everyone can continue to play the first one, but you won't be able to play the 2nd game levels unless you purchase it.

If anyone has attempted/already created a level in this game knows that the level making system is already complex and fufills everything that you'd need to make levels.

Somebody at Media Molecule expressed an interest in a full-3D experience where you're not limited to 2D planes. Something like that couldn't easily be integrated with LBP. A full games worth of work would go into just making that as easy an experience (creating) as LBP.

I believe that to develop LBP in 3D could
lose of its originality

3-D? I'm sure they'll save that for LBP3.

That I could see, but considering those creation tools would be even more complicated than the current ones, I think that it would be better to wait and see how the create & share parts of the game take off before assuming people would want a 3D version.

Though it would be interesting if they made a 3D version and then let it be a persistent world - something like LBP meets WoW meets the Sims.

Ummm currently it is in 3-D. You manipulate X-Y-Z planes while creating levels. Granted the Z plane is limited to only 3 layers, but its still there.

I hope not. This is the type of game that will be supported and sustained with DLC. I dont want a sequel until probably the PS4. Till than, MM can just keep adding onto this game

A PSP version would be sweet, especially if you could share your sackboys between the PSP and PS3.

They have to make money... so they have to make sequels... Though it seem tough because this game is so expansive.
