Default House M.D.: Season Seven 8/30/11

House M.D.: Season Seven Blu-ray 8/30/11

I have been watching this show since the first season came to dvd. I go out of my way not to watch it on TV so I can watch it at my own pace on dvd/blu-ray. Season 7 on BD showed up in my Gold Box this morning so I pre-ordered it today.
Anyhow, I have heard that season 7 is just more of the same. I gotta wonder how many seasons are left for Dr. House, anybody have a clue? I hope the show gets a proper finale whenever they do decide to end it. thanks

Most Likely the 8th season will be it's last...Lisa Edelstein is not returning for season 8 and everyone else including Hugh Laurie have contracts for one more season.

Thank You! I hope they give the show a fantastic ending as I have loved every minute of it from the get go.
(edit: but can it be done without Dr. Cuddy? hmmm that news is a bummer.)

Did they do away with the packaging where you have to slide your blu rays out and squeeze them to get them pack in? I was hoping enough people complained that they went back to just having normal hubs for each disc, like the seasons on dvd.

Not quite. I just opened my copy... there are three hubs, the first two have two discs stacked on top of each other the 5th disc is alone in the 3rd hub.

So no more squeezing discs but now we got stacked discs.

Why do that?

Oh my lord the packaging is horrendous... 3 discs spots, but the first and second spots spot have 2 discs and the third is just the one disc. I looked over all the discs and they all looked scratched! I got the DVD version but it is the same way as the Blu version.

I am so pissed!!!

Shouldn't be a scratching problem with the Blu-rays... but they are harder to maneuver... and even when you get used to it, it is annoying to have to always remove that top disc to play the disc underneath.

It also might be more acceptable IF we actually saw a reduction in price when they stack the discs to save cost on packaging... but when the prices keep going up on these releases, I wish we would get more accessible packaging. I think many of us would actually prefer single-disc-per-page if it added a buck or two to the price.

You should be pissed. And BDs do scratch. Just because they are less likely to scratch hardly means they don't and this packaging and last season's BD packaging both make it more likely you'll eventually scratch or nick a disc.

I REALLY enjoy the older seasons (1-4 or 1-5) the most, but if it's true that they will not release the complete series on blu, I'll either get rid of all of the seasons, catch House reruns on the weekends for as long as they last, and life with yet another television show disappointment or wait for all the blu seasons left, this one and probably season 8, as the last until they are cheaper than dirt.

I actually have less problem with Universal's problems with catalog titles, as much as they seem to consistently seem to disappoint overall. But saving on the packaging? I just don't believe that's why they do it. It really just seems like dumb people are in charge and they're making really dumb decisions. No one can convince me that the overlapping hubs from the earlier dvd seasons were too expensive and that's why Universal changed.

I've cut back on my tv viewing, but House was always going to be a show that I planned on owning all the seasons of in glorious HD. The dream crushed already when they couldn't even get 2 seasons out without shitty, dumbass packaging.

Does anyone have issues with the 4th episode of the second disk???? I have already returned one brand new copy because it was unwatchable, the copy i have now is watchable but i still lose sound several times throughout the episode especially in the first scene after the credits roll. i can get the sound back by pressing play several times, but my ps3 just doesn't seem to like this disk........I'm scared to go get a third copy as it may be just as bad as my first one.....

It's less about saving costs and more about saving space. Certain retailers, most notably Target, will not carry much inventory of a particular release if it takes up too much space on their shelves. The studios do not sell directly to consumers, they mostly care about the concerns of corporate buyers at the major retail chains. The packaging is awful, but the studios have abandoned sensible packaging en mass.
