Default Other hobbies?

Well, it’s obvious we all like movies & the equipment that allows us to watch them in the comfort of our own homes, but what other hobbies do you have? I have a feeling we have a lot more in common.

Photography - been doing it forever, do weddings & portraits on the side, also taught a class in basic photography. Here’s a sampling:

http://s104.photobucket.com/albums/m164/cravnsn/UCare/

Snowboarding

Music - I’m sure we’re about more than just movies. Beatles are the best ever, Guitar has to go to Jimi Hendrix, Bass to John Entwistle, Drums to Keith Moon. I’m also noodling around with a newly purchased bass guitar & amp

Hiking

I used to be into computer gaming, but the combination of spending way too much time on it, and not having the money to keep up with the upgrades made me all but give it up. That said, we do have a Wii, and the whole family loves it.

I love music. J-pop, Punk, Metal, Rock.

Fishing: Love to fish. Very relaxing and sometimes the biggest trout goes on the grill.

Misc exotic pets. I got a leopard gecko and scorpions (emperor and a florida bark). Which I love to take care of.

also a photographer. 35mm black and white with dark room in my shed, 120mm color and B&W, just got into digital last year still not all on board with it but its convenient.

music: I play bass, mandolin, cello, and harmonica. but i can't read sheet music.

writer: poetry, lyrics, political stuff etc.

i also like reading comic books. mostly ghost rider, but also marvel's civil war series, wathcmen, 100 bullets (which i just started getting), and others.

Took a quick look, but didn't see any other threads - sorry if I'm double posting. Do you have any pics online we can peek at?

I'm pretty sure there was one a few months back, maybe we should get one stickied.

Anyway, I collect and restore arcade games. I've got quite a few now. I really need to build a small building in my back yard to display them properly. My favorites right now are Joust, Wizard Of Wor, and Gyruss. I also just recently began collecting Horror memorabilia. So far I have a Freddy Krueger glove, a Hellraiser puzzle box, and a Chucky doll from Child's Play. If you've ever seen Trilogy Of Terror, I've got the Zuni Fetish doll on order, and am tracking down an Evil Dead chainsaw.

I like to do video editing, some of the programs I have are FX Home Vision Studio (just for special effects) and Vegas Pro 8.0 for editing. I have a JVC HD camcorder (low end for HD) but it has awesome video capture. I am just an armature but I have had a few local jobs, mostly for graduations. I really enjoy it and will soon be getting a blu-ray burner to go with the Vegas pro from hi-def videos.

Love doing lots of things. Used to be a reefer. Got out of that hobby. Too expensive and I did not like the people in the hobby. Always had a "mines better and bigger than yours" attitude. That and the amount of waste was insane.

Yes, marine.

Had so many tanks. Started with a 30 tall, went to a 75, then a 30 bow or something, then a 155 bow, to a 20 long, then a 30 cube (oceanic) and so many in between.

Last tank was the 30 cube. I had to move and most everything died. What didn't I gave away. Decided not to do it again due to the time, power outages, problems here and there, excessive cost of things, the people in the hobby and the waste of electricity.

I will look at the pictures and view it all in the ocean. Not in my living room anymore. Harsh, but I just got tired of it.

Don't get me wrong - I LOVED it. I just got tired of everyone one upping people and then you had people who were in it just to have the BIGGEST an BESTEST! Not caring for the life that it would contain.

I could not agree more, every one who stats into it always asks me what is the smallest tank i can put a shark into. My advice now is, if you have to ask how small then you cannot keep a shark. I would love to set up a tank again, but maybe moving in a year so have a wait and see prospective at this time. Besides BDs take most of my fun money at this time.

Lol, yeah. I loved that question. If you have to ASK - DON'T DO IT!

If I ever do a tank again, it will be a nano. Something manageable in care and if the power ever goes out. I will also do LED lighting instead of halide, cfl or the like. Much more energy efficient and better light too.

What tank setup did you have?

I had 2 a 125 gal reef and a 30 gal reef, the 30 was more inverts and 2 clarkie clowns (spelling?), the 125 was a red sea specific. I only put in animals from the red sea, kind of a theme tank if you will. I sold my 125 before moving here and a friend has my 30 set up, so i go over there and live vicariously through him for now. I enjoy the view, with no work. I always did soft corals so never needed halides, I used compacts and LEDs, but even hat is expensive.
I would love to set up again but patience is needed, as always in the marine hobby.

I love guitars and classic rock. I love movies and classic TV.
I like shooting sports, I love target shooting and skeet.
I enjoy occasional model building. I also used to be big into trading card games, I know I am a nerd. But, there's really not anyone to play with anymore.

I also like Math, did I mention I am a nerd?

I actually just bought a DSLR to start a photography hobby. I just bought it a few days ago, so I've not really gotten the opportunity to play with it too much. I've been told I have a good eye (pics from a nice P & S digital camera), and thought I should just take up the hobby.... LOTS to learn!

I also like to work out in the yard. Once I get the yard fenced in, I'll start vegetable and herb gardening.

I also enjoy reading novels. Daniel Silva, Vince Flynn, Brian Haig, Ken Follett, etc...

I enjoy writing as well, and actually am looking to start writing a novel. I'm not looking to get published or anything...

on the weekends i hunt and hound celebrities for that one good photo that i can then sell to the rags. of course this is when i'm not suing perez hilton for stealing my photos and using them without permission. i seem to spend more in court than i do in bed. i also like to occasionally do the 6:00 news for san diago's own channel 4 news.

Nope, not really.
About all I have any more is sitting here and spending time on my computers.
That's why I got BD enabled machines.
I can play any game known, maybe not at insane levels, but they still play, and I *CAN* watch Blu-ray discs in all their glory at 1080p.
Either on the attached screen or via HDMI to a friend's HDTV/HT.

I suppose it could be considered that I collect VAIOs...

LOL!
