I used to own the Dumb and Dumber BR (it was stolen). Anyway, I remember not being a fan of the unrated version...my question is does the BR have both versions on it, because I can't remember. I'd like to buy it again if I can just get the regular version.

Sadly only the unrated, which I don't like at all. It pretty much ruins the movie for me, and I have only watched it once since I bought it.
![]() I really hope they will release the theatrical version some day soon on BD! ![]() |

Also, where Lloyd and Harry were lovable nitwits in the theatrical version, they come off more like annoying jerkoffs due to the additional "unrated" scenes. I'm holding off on buying a bluray until a theatrical edition is released (I have both the theatrical and unrated DVDs). |

It's disgusting, and for me, totally destroys the good-natured spirit of the theatrical cut. ![]() I would have been ok with the additional song scene in the pickup truck, but this is way too much, although I enjoyed seeing more of Carrey, but some scenes are really better out (as mentioned previously). |

Sorry, I know this does not follow the point of this thread but I can not resist:
Harry - I pictured the Rocky Mountains to be a little rockier than this. Lloyd - Yeah, that John Denver was full of shit. Classic |

There's nothing dumb about your question.
[Show spoiler] Never seen this in the theaters, unrated is the only version I've ever seen but I just love it. The only reason holding me back from getting the BD is the picture/audio quality. However, I can't see the studio spending more for a new transfer, so I guess we're screwed. |

Really? The Unrated cut sucks.. period.. Its more edgy, violent and crude.. Like said above it takes away the genuine nature of the characters, ( ESPECIALLY THE HOT TUB SCENE ) The theatrical release is what 99% of us remember, and the added scenes ( also said above ) should have been extras.. NOT a part of the movie To me it was a complete waste of 15 bucks, and I hope they release the theatrical version.. Changing the Encode wouldnt be a bad idea either since it wasnt good to begin with |

One of my favorite comedies. I remember seeing this in the theater, good times. But I was thinking about picking up the unrated cut as well but will probably just keep my original theatrical dvd til they actually decide to rerelease it on blu.
As for the extra scenes, I think I may have seen them once, I agree, they should of kept em out, or at least gave us a damn choice. Tisk tisk. |

Exactly how I feel about it as well! I stayed away from it for quite a long time, but eventually gave in when it hit $9.99 to see for myself if the PQ was really that bad, and I was actually pleasantly surprised. I think the PQ is pretty good, although due to the nature of the film and the way it was shot (low budget...), it will never be a demo disc. HOWEVER, the unrated version stinks big time, and I am waiting for the theatrical version to be released on BD to watch this classic again. |

Did the UK get a different theatrical cut, as we have always had the scene where Lloyd nearly gets assaulted in the toilet "think of a happy place, think of a happy place". And the scene with the hitchikers singing the mocking bird song
The other scenes ruin the pace. the hottub scene made Lloyd seem like a horrible person. |

The PQ looks great for a low budget movie. It looks far from a DVD.
And I agree with all the comments regarding the theatrical vs unrated. I didn't know about the unrated version before I bought this and I was very surprised by this. The unrated version does make the movie worse! Last edited by Eny-; 12-13-2010 at 11:54 AM. |

wow, i thought i was the only one who noticed how the unrated version ruined the theatrical....and not to have a choice on the bd...they also change some of the music which really added to the feel and also one of my favorite songs: green jelly's "the bear went over the mountain" was taken from the atomic pepper scene and completely ruined it...
