I would like some opinons from fellow members on this TV. I'm thinking of purchasing a Panasonic 800U or 85U series, but I can't make up my mind on which is better. Does the THX on the 800U really makes that much of a differences to justify the extra $300-$400? Will the THX and 24p be worth the money or should I just saved the $300 and get the 85U(then get it calibrated) ? Any advices or opinions would be appreciated.

There is a THX calibration option with the 800U that gives movies a very film-like viewing experience-if that makes any sense. I have the 42" 800U and love it. You will not regret purchasing the 800U. Also, its ability to output 24p should be enough reason to purchase it over the 85.

Thank you all for your advices, but I still don't know for sure that THX on 800U is worth the extra cost. But still, as of this moment I'm sorta leaning toward the 800U series because I heard it has better Color accuracy than the 85U, which supposedly has oversaturated and inaccurate color of red and green. For those who has the 85U, is that true??

DUDE the 85u has a FLICKER that u can not get rid of..Google it man..alot of unhappy people with that set..I have the 800u and it is the BEST for the money and the PICTURE is BADASS ...and ENGADGET says this about PANASONIC PLASMA.The amount of dis-information in the marketplace about plasma TVs never fails to amaze us. While we personally haven't overheard a salesperson talk about refilling the gas in a plasma TV in a while, we also haven't seen customers choosing between plasma and LCD -- that decision has already been made in favor of LCD. Credit Panasonic for fighting the good fight by introducing an easy-to-understand and relevant spec to the marketplace: its 2008 plasmas boast 100,000-hours plasma life for the 1080p sets, 60,000-hours for the 720p sets. That's the time you'll have before the plasma brightness falls to half of its original value. So if you leave the set on 24/7, that translates to 11-years of viewing. There are certainly reasons to pick an LCD over plasma, but these figures close the book on lifetime arguments -- a plasma today will last you well into your OLED/SED/hologram Jetsonian future.
