Buy PS3 now or wait till after E3?

Like the title says, im inbetween a rock and a hard place about the PS3 and E3 coming up. Should I go ahead a buy the $399 80gb or wait till after the first of June, to see what happens at E3?

Not long to wait. Some developments may be announced that you could kick yourself if you buy now. Maybe a price cut.

I wasnt saying I couldnt wait, I just dont follow gaming consoles that often, and was looking for any info, if there is talks of price cuts, newer model....ect

It's hard to say before E3 on what will happen at E3 so just have to wait it out and see what happens. For all we know Sony may not even do anything special or maybe they will. Just wait till after E3 and then just make your decision if you want a PS3 then or wait if Sony might do a price cut or maybe come out with a very nice bundle set. Anything before E3 is basically rumors or maybe hints.

if it was ME.......i would wait.

E3 is usually full of surprises and by waiting 2-3 weeks you have a CHANCE that you could get
A) a bundle pack not available now but for the same $399 price point
B) a price cut

there are NO FACTS to anything im saying.....just examples of why i would wait.

remember......just cause you havent heard any rumors yet doesnt mean nothing will happen.
not every story comes out pre e3.....feel me.

patience is your best friend here.
2 weeks and you WILL have your ps3......its just a waiting game to see if you can get more 'bang for your buck' and that, to me, is worth the wait

I personally would wait until after. It's not that long to wait. Plus, you'd maybe get information on a price cut if the PS3 Slim is true. The only way you should get one now is if it's a steal basically IMO.

What? You don't have a PS3 yet? Go and buy one now! Seriously, I don't think I would wait any longer to get one. Sure, a price cut can occur at any time, but if you keep thinking like that, you'll wait forever. The PS3 is still one of the better Blu-ray players and has a decent games' library by now, not to mention added features such as trophies etc. I think it's worth to purchase right now if you have the cash.

I'm in the market for my first as well, and I will wait. I HATE when I buy something and the price drops the next day. Its like the dude at the register sends a memo or something when they see me buy it.

I bought a laptop a few years ago, and the box had a company add in it - it had the laptop I was unwrapping for a lower price!

I've never been a huge gamer, but I can't argue with the PS3. My nephew has one, and the blu's load in seconds. The media storage and all that is great also... o yeah, and games. If we can get closer to $300 though- would be nice.

Based on all the rumor and conjecture here it seems like a price cut at E3 is unlikely - and more likely at the TGS in late September.

I think that if we don't see an announcement at E3, at best you are looking at an announcement in late September (maybe even a slimmer version?) for holiday time.

I guess it depends on how long you want to hold out - if 4th Q is too far away, I'd say wait to see if anything surprising comes up at E3 and if not, buy it after.

I'd go ahead and buy it. I would be very surprised if there was a price cut. I think that the most you will see (hardware wise) at E3 will be a new bundle, but it's a crapshoot to hold out for even that. You might not like the bundle - and that's if they even announce a new one!

Isn't Sony still losing 10% on each PS3 sold? Not to mention I believe they lost $1 billion over the last quarter or something like that. Yeah the most they'll probably announce is a new color or a new bundle or something like that.

i say depends how bad you need it..If you feel like you want it now I say there is no reason to wait becasue nothing is certain at E3 and the ps3 is well worth the $399 price tag IMO it does sooo much you wont be let down I can promise you that!!

My buddy is looking to get one but was holding off because he thought there might be a pricecut. I said that I heard there might be one... sometime.

You don't want to find yourself regretting a desicion. we all know that sony's the 800 lb gorilla and there gonna have some nice anouncments @ E3 (a redesinged sleeker ver of there current console @ a cheaper price w/a bigger hard drive maybee ) Either way man, u don't loose.

Go buy 1 at Best Buy and if the price goes down in the next 30 days they will refund the difference if you ask them to
