Default Paramount Drops Blu-ray Support: One Year Later

http://www.viacom.com/news/pages/new...px?rid=1042073

I personally want to say THANK YOU Warner for putting an end to the madness and for bringing Paramount back to their senses. If it wasn’t for Warner, Paramount still would be giving Blu-ray supporters the shaft.

Also, continue to optimize more of your encodings for Blu-ray!

God, the defection feels like it was just yesterday. Welcome back again Para, and thank you for giving us what we want.

Heh, definitely been a great year since.

I was glad to see Paramount come crawling back with tail tucked. Top Gun is great... once I have Transformers, I'll be where I should have been last year.

Since they've come back to the Blu-ray family, Paramount has been doing a wonderful job. High bitrate video encodes and lossless audio on all new releases. Keep up the good work Paramount and hopefully shame Warner into changing some of their current BD practices.

I shudder to think of the Godfather Collection as HD DVD exclusive, as it would have been had the war continued. Thank goodness it's over.

On a personal note, having lurked on this site since Jan 07, it was Paramount's blackguardly defection which prompted me to get an account and start posting last Aug. One year on, blu-ray.com just keeps getting better. Many thanks to the site owners and admins, mods and all forum members for making this such a great place to jabber about Blu. Here's to another year of Blu talk!

Personally I feel that thanking big corporations is kind of unecessary as they don't take this or that decision based on what would make us happy but on what they think will in the end make the most money for them. Proof of this as if proof was necessary, Paramount dumping Bluray a year ago when It knew Bluray was favored both by the amount of studios and the amount of bluray lovers. So a pay-off combined with a time limit of 18 months of Red exclusivity though not endangering their position, made them immediately quick cash and let providence worry about the deceived bluray fans ...
In the same manner they are back because there is simply no business left on the Red side and not cause they have pangs or regrets, so again I say there is no need to thank them (or any other big players for that matter)

Agreed. Thanking them is rather pathetic.
