For every reason that you could possibly think of relating to the PS3's capabilities.

I bought my first PS3 (60gb) last fall because I couldn't find any PS2 games that interested me. Blu-Ray was an afterthought... I bought my second PS3 (40gb) because I wanted to watch high-def movies on our new 1080p 40 inch TV in the bedroom.

I was looking for a Blu Ray player. I thought long and hard, but deceided on the PS3 because of the dual capabilities. I don't play a lot of games, but I am into Horror survival games. I'm looking forward to Silent Hill 5.

I already had a Wii, I didn't then and still don't want enough 360 games to justify a purchase. It has Blu-ray. PS2 was my favorite previous generation console, so backwards compatability was big for me. My favorite franchises: God of War, Ratchet and Clank, hopes for new Sly Cooper and Jak & Daxter, Metal Gear Solid and a lot more. I had the money for it and lastly, free online.

For blu ray movies, then games such as MGS 4 and Uncharted. Can't wait for Force Unleashed.

My main reason was for the viewing of Blu-ray movies. I am not much of a gamer.

Killzone 2, Uncharted, heavenly sword, blu-ray movie playback, little big planet, Warhawk, and Metal Gear solid 4 were my reasons for owning a ps3. Last gen I had both consoles except for the gamecube (not enough mature titles for me), so this generation I decided to purchase one console for home and a portable console and that is my psp. Dual home consoles gets really expensive and one usually gets played more than the other one, thats why at home ps3 is king and on the road psp is king

pretty much strictly for Blu-ray. I would have bought a 360 if I didn't want a Blu-ray player

I stopped buying DVDs by the end of summer '07 once I knew I'd be going hi-def soon. After buying a 46" Samsung 1080p LCD in November, I couldn't hold out any longer, I needed blu-ray movies. I bought the 40GB PS3 in January. At the time, the least expensive blu-ray player. Not to mention it's a game system. Although I already owned a Wii, it seemed like a no brainer. Currently only own one PS3 game, GTA IV.
