Help with Blu-Ray players... - Blu-ray Forum

I having trouble deciding between the Panasonic DMP-BD30 and a 80GB Sony Playstation 3. I wanna forget that the PS3 is cheaper and also a gaming machine as if it were just a Blu-Ray player. I really don't care about pricing, I need to figure out which is better in performance, or why one of them is better than the other, which upscales DVDs best, etc. I'm also a little confused about the bitstream thing, since the Panasonic has it, PS3 doesn't; and the Profiles, so I'd appreciate some help here...

the ps3, it has profile 2.0 which is the newest profile. and the ps3 is the most future proof machine because it gets updates about every 1-2 months.

1) I haven't had the need to update my Panny DMP-30 since January
2) It's actually cheaper now...Amazon has it for $299

What kind of receiver do you have?
