i have been using the VGN-FZ285U for about 6 months -for office work - and really like it. but i have only played blu-ray movies on it for maybe 5 minutes, just to see if it performs well. and it does. it has tiny laptop speakers, though. i also tried the hdmi and played a blu-ray movie on an lcd tv, and that worked fine too.

Been looking at it, nice specs and price!
I have two AR series VAIOs - they play BDs great!
If I wasn't so broke, I'd probably get a FW.

It will display the movie at the max res the screen is able to.
If the screen is 1600x900, that is as far as the movie will be displayed.
HDMI will output the picture at 1920x1080 to a HDTV with no problem!

*THIS* screen is 1440x900 and masks some of the imperfections that can be seen at 1920x1080 - my other AR will show it all(1920x1200 screen) with room to spare.

I would still like to get a FW. Maybe in a couple months...
