Default Should I wait to buy a new TV?

All my HDTVs are just 720 and I think it guess it's time to upgrade to 1080p but I am not in a hurry to buy and would like to get a deal on HDTV.
How are the sales during Thanksgiving especially for higher end models (like XBR)?
I would just get one now if those models don't go sale during Thanksgiving.

I don't know if they will go on sale "Because" of the holiday itself, but I do know that more than likely they will be cheaper by that time if you're willing to wait......

If everyone has a fire-sale, I can't see sony not doing "something" to try to sway the price-sensitive shopper. We all know that the XBR is better than many other sets, but if a competitor has a model out there that is "comparable" for way less, sony will have to respond.

I'd wait personally... unless you don't mind paying possibly $200-$400 more "NOW" to get it "NOW"

Default depends

If you aren't in a rush to upgrade then dont. I'm sure big ticket stores will have big sales, and if you don't see something you like, prices will go down anyway because they need to clear out a lot of models for new ones at the end of the year. Also, stores like Best Buy have 30 day price match policies, so if it goes cheaper, they will pay you the difference. It's nice, used it on a laptop once that I got for $800 that went on sale for $600 the next day.

It's entirely up to you and your level of patience.

True eh
Ya, I'm waiting out for Amazon to lower some of their prices (I'm hooked on Amazon and their hassle-free return policies) and no taxes haha
some of the models I'm looking at include Panasonic TC-37LZ800, it's going for $1190ish down from 1599 and Samsung LN40A650 going for $1300ish down from 1899
I seriously won't mind getting a 100 or 200 off those prices when I get them in Nov

It'll be better to stick with your current HDTVs regardless if its 1080p or not. Updating them to 1080p is just a small upgrade and costs a lot of money.

Instead, wait for the larger OLED tvs to come out in a few years.

Here's a sample of the first OLED HDTV: http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/...52921665327724

I don't think I'll ever be in that type of situation where I'll have so much money that I don't what to do with it except blow it all on something stupid.

Yep.. .Every year i recommend this.. There are great deals to be had, Financing options so you can stretch and get that tv that's just out of your range (but with Financing your ok)... Saved money myself 2 January's ago, and saved my dad almost $800 the year before that.

OLED will not be commercially available in big screen sizes for at least 7 years, probably more like 10 to be honest...what size are your current 720p screens? and also, what size are you looking to upgrade to?

a 37" and a 32", both Sony 720p, well and a 19" in the kitchen (got it free from my local bank)
I just want anti-judder and better blacks
quite a few good blu-rays will be out in recent months (transformers, dark knight, iron man, etc), might as well get a 1080p with motion focus thingy or 120hz, so that it will last me for 4 yrs

u know what I'm saying?

If you are in no rush I would wait until January. The past couple of years there have been a lot of deals to be had on TVs post holiday. Stores trying to clear out models that sold under expections plus super bowl.

Just my 2 cents on the matter
