New iPhone 3g - Got one!

Well, there was not much thinking about what new phone I wanted. I checked the Verizon store and all their phones I disliked. They seemed really crappy to me. Even the LG Dare (a joke of a phone). So, I did not upgrade my Verizon phone. I just kept what I have now.

I headed over to the ATT store, asked my questions, played around a bit with the iPhone and signed up. The deal was done yesterday morning and it has been fun ever since. $100 bux I get everything I need. Unlimited txt, unlimited data, nights/weekends, rollover minutes, regular minutes. So on so forth.

I LOVE this phone. Loved it since I saw the ads for it. Simple, sleek and FUNCTIONAL! If anyone has Verizon you know that the service is excellent, but the phone interfaces suck.

This is the one thing I don't like. iPhone on att network. However, signal has improved dramatically since we last tried it plus they said and absurd amount of new towers are going up.

Couple of questions - is Apple planning to update the phone to allow MMS? I know you can email stuff (I did that and it works), but I would also like to get pics. Not a big deal, just curious. I am not going to jailbreak this thing either. Don't want to kill the warranty. I actually don't have a problem with the way it is now. It is so nice!

haha, im glad you enjoy your phone

but i just cant wonder what upgraded model they well come out with in the close future

and i hated AT&T switched to alltel, unless you live in the city with ATT service is next to 0

Your missing out if you don't jailbreak IMO. But anyway to mms it is just an email, you email it to their cell number with the correct extension, for someone to send you an mms they just need to email it to the account you check on your phone, providing you do of course =)

If you jailbreak, don't you void your warranty? Can you revert back to original if you need to send it in?

If you need to send it in for service or take it to an Apple store for exchange or whatever you may need to do just restore it in iTunes and they dont know the difference. I had to exchange my 3G already and just restored it and exchanged it.

and yea, no picture messaging, it seems like apple is just moving backwards instead of foward

when i switched to Alltel i got the Glimmer from LG, awesome phone, touch screen with a slider, and pitcure messaging, The only 1 thing i liked on i phone was the Voicemail features

Yeah that seems to be the general consensus i get from every person i know who has gone to at&t when getting a iPhone. Personally i don't want to surf the net on a 2" x 3" screen so the iPhone is just loaded with features i don't need and the complete downfall is the service is just about the worst you can buy from what i hear.

yea i had it when it was SUNCOM, back in the day, and never really needed it oustide from where i was, then cingular took over, service got worse as i started using it more, then AT&T and it just got awful, like no matter were i went that wasnt a city , it was 0-2 bars, i allways see there commercial raising the bar, well i was yet to see that

i switched to alltel, and at my old job( a power plant) i could go into the basement of this 6 story tall mosnter of a building, and have almost perfect service, altough i couldnt actually use it in the basement unless the equipment was off because it was to noisy haha

I read the the iphone is at&t until 2010! but yeah the service sucks. I have an IPhone as well and i love it.

i can go everywhere with alltel and have service, i can go to the boonies way out in the boonies, in the woods and have perfect service with alltel, but i wouldnt of even dreamed of having even 1 bar of service in the same spot with att&T

yup, but i do realize that ive had AT&T or "the phone company" for years, and used it all over the country, and unless i was in a major area, the service was 0

ive used Alltel now in almost the same places ive used AT&T and had much better service

but like i said, if you live in the city then great, youl have no issues, but if you travel to the country, Good Luck

Where do you live?

AT&T works GREAT where I live. When Cingular bought AT&T Wireless, they basically doubled the towers. I doubt that Verizon is any better (my Girlfriend is on Verizon and has the same drop areas that I do)...

Unless you mean Customer Service... Then they are still ahead of the curve, IMO.

i live in virginia, but i travel all up and down the east coast, and some times out west
