Default Does anyone think there is a possability of a Superman Complete set?

I was just wondering if anyone know or thinks that there is a possability of them ever releasing a complete set of all the Superman movies. I have held off on buying any of them that they have released, but i am wondering if i should just buy them.

I don't think it's going to be a huge priority for WHV, because the 3rd and 4th movies are usually regarded as being pretty bad. So they'd probably figure that most folks are primarily interested in Superman 1 & 2.

Otherwise, they'd probably have done what they did with the older Batman movies, release them as a package first, then individually.

But, as WB reboots more DC Comics franchises, it is more likely they'll try to build up some excitement among the fans. So perhaps it could happen within the next 3-4 years, hopefully.

Oh i see, So do you think it is worth just buying the movies now? If i have to buy the set in 4+ years, i dont think it would bother me, i really wanna get these movies but at the same time, don't wanna see a box set come out next year

I sincerely hope so! I bought the one they did on DVD and would buy the blu-ray set in a heartbeat.

I purchased the individual blu-ray releases except the Richard Donner cut of Superman II because of some great sale prices. Unless I can find it for cheap, I think I can wait for the ultimate set.

I have the four movie box set in the tin case (like Band of Brothers) on DVD if you're interested in purchasing it. It has 10 discs in it I believe.

I am going to hold from buying superman until the ultimate set is released, they will release it eventually, no doubt.

It is always nicer to have a complete collection in one nice neat box.

A few years ago, this set was inquired about at one of the Home Theater Forum's periodic online chats with the "powers that be" at Warner Home Video. The Warner rep was very (IMO, insultingly and condescendingly) dismissive of the request, saying something along the line of "Why would we do that? We just released it shortly ago on DVD...that should suffice. We'd rather concentrate on new stuff!". Which I found very peculiar (if DVD = BD, then we wouldn't have/need BD), especially when, shortly thereafter, Warner migrated the entire DVD experience of the ULTIMATE MATRIX COLLECTION over to BD...seemed rather hypocritical. My guess is that the complete SUPERMAN set was a poor seller (admit it, most people would only be interested in the first two) made all the worse as a revenue generator when the first pressing had to be recalled and replaced due to audio errors and missing bonus features. Still, I think it's unconscionable that they haven't released a comprehensive BD of the series this late in the BD game...

I think I may just buy the movies seperate, because it doesn't sound like they are gonna release any set anytime soon.

I bought each Superman BD individually. I havent seen 3 in a long time but I remember liking it when I was younger. But then again I also liked 4 when I was younger and when I saw it on tv a few weeks ago I tried to watch it but it was incredibly bad.

I have the 14-disc Ultimate Collector's Edition that came out on DVD in 2006. It would be nice to see that re-released on Blu.

THat's what I really want. I'm trying to avoid buying DVDs now because I feel like your just backtracking but I want blu Ray to come out with a set so bad, I just don't think it's gonna happen anytime soon

Supposedly Warner is planning a Superman reboot for 2012, so I would imagine that would be the earliest we'd see a full set

That's kinda what I was thinking; if they plan on releasing the whole Ultimate Collector's Edition set on Blu, it'll be when the new Superman film gets released.

Truth be told, I think the person who asked that question didn't specify whether it was DVD or BD, so Warner simply misunderstood the question.

Considering the fact that we have already had a non Christopher Reeve Superman, getting one with the new reboot would seem unlikely. I am sure there are people who want 3 and 4 on BD but I do not think enough people want it to make it worth while now. I remember (on this forum in particular) when the Batman anthology came out and most people only wanted 1 and 2, they either bought it grudgingly or waited for the individual releases.

Superman 3 and 4 will come out so we just need to be patient.

I wouldn't call it stellar, but it is certainly above average.
