Hi
I have purchased a Sony XL202 with WinDVD-BD and am playing it through a Sony Bravia KLD S40A12U HD ready LCD TV using the HDMI cable. Everything works fine until I try to play commercial Blu-ray DVDs. WinDVD displays the error 'WinDVD-BD cannot start playback of protected contents with current display settings. Please change a display setting of the system' The Sony help desk are out of ideas. They assure me that the TV is compliant. I have tried all screen resolutions on the planet, reloaded drivers.... Has anyone else seen this error and could advise me of any settings that may resolve it. I need help! Many thanks Last edited by CT505; 03-22-2007 at 12:20 PM. |

After connecting the TV, try turning off the monitor in your graphics card control panel (the thing you get when you right click on your desktop and select properties, settings, advanced) on your computer after you connect the TV and are ready to play the movie. Set the graphic control panel to display your computer desktop to the TV, and run the computer from the TV; try playing back the movie on the TV as if it were the computer.
In other words, don't try to use the "two displays" function when playing back movies. |

This is a situation that pisses me off. I have 54 HD discs that I legally own, and would like to find a way to implement HDD storage of said movies. Both the BD and HD DVD camps have said that MMC is "coming", yet I see little in the way of progress. If I am to attempt this myself, I need to purchase another program such as AnyDVD with the HD SW add-on. Another ~$120 to be able to do something I should anyway for free.
Overall I don't practice copying of movies (not to say I never have), but situations like this definitely make me understand why people would want to. Get your acts together HD DVD and BD, I want to be able to store content I legally own! ![]() |
