Default Is Amazon's discount over with?

I have tried for a couple days to make an order and each time at checkout I am not offered the 5% discount, Well it was good while it lasted I guess.

I think it is. Mine was cut down from 10% to 5% at the beginning of summer and when I tried checking out at Amazon with a Transformers pre-order the other day I got absolutely zero discount at all.

Apologies for going a little off topic but out of interest is Amazon still running the discount for spending over $50 on movies using their Visa card?

I think its retained if you spend a certain amount consistently.
I just checked mine then and its still in effect for me but has dropped down to 3% sometime in the last few weeks. (just like it dropped from 10% to 5% earlier this year, about the same time others lost the discount completely for not spending some threshold amount)

I have had a different experience. I dont get the 5% for anything they added for order after around the time Contantine went up for pre-order. Yet anything that was able to be ordered before that time still gets the 5%. So I dont know if its releated to how much you spend.

i still get it...but's it's been only 5% for a while now. and it doesn't always work on new preorders. you have to wait a while. but all other in stock items should work.

I don't think that's how it worked, as I was still spending quite a bit per month on movies and mine completely ended at the stated time that Amazon said it was supposed to end for everyone. I probably bought about 110 movies in '07 all from amazon... I even pre-ordered everything I could to take advantage of the 10% off before it expired.

I'm rather curious about why some people got to keep their 10%/5%/etc. off past the Dec 31st 07 cut off though...

Actually I had heard its a certain cutoff. So if you bought a lot from them you probably hit the cutoff earlier than others did.

I have no way to prove this outside of anecdotal evidence from here and AVS.

Mine continued at 10% until 3-4 months ago, and then dropped to 5% and has recently disappeared.

Mine started in Nov. 2006.
