Pioneer Elite Plasma.

followed by a close second Panasonic Plasma.

in my opinion.

If you have no preference on which type of TV technology, get a Pioneer Kuro.

Get a Pioneer Kuro 5010 (or 5020 if you want this year's model, 6010, 6020 if you want the bigger size and respective cost increase, :P).

Arguably the best televisions available to purchase.

Panasonic second, of course.

Even though I own an LCD, I'm a Plasma man.

agreed...but not quite a close second in my opinion. pioneer is leaps and bounds better than the competition

A quick search would have turned-up dozens of threads expressing this exact reply.

I love my Panys, but if I had the $$ I would have gone with a Kuro.

It comes down to budget really. Eiher way however, you can't go wrong with either a Pioneer or Panasonic plasma.

Everything else is a distant 2nd!

pioneer elite
sony xbr, samsung a650-950, panasonic pz850u, kuro (to say panasonic plasma is better then a high line lcd (sony xbr samsung 650-950) is like saying a lexus is faster then a bmw 335, the lexus could be a gs300 all the way to a isf.)

the pioneer elite is up top and all the others are so close it is all about what you like. when i am in magnolia i cant tell the price difference worth between an elite and a kuro or for a matter of fact any of the sets on the second line. if you are all about bragging rights or just have the cash then the elite is the way to go but if you are pocket book conscious then any of the tvs on the 2nd line will suffice.

Crackinhedz said is perfectly, without a huge long elaborate story

Pioneer, and then Panasonic.
If price is a big concern...you can NOT go wrong with the Panasonic. I am beyond happy with mine - and my next set will also be a Panny plasma.

Whats your budget?Plasmas that size typically will run a couple thousand if you need to go cheaper and can still find them the Sony Sxrd Rear projection sets like the one in my signature are really good and can be had for around 1300 but they are hard to find nowadays. If your budget allows totally go for the plasmas that were mentioned earlier.

I think Sony has the edge. Dont get me wrong though, Samsung have some fine looking LCD's too. Either one would do good, but I would go for Sony.

All plamsmas need to be calibrated to your viewing situation after the break-in period.

My Panasonic was almost perfect - straight from the factor. Just made a few very minor changes. From what I hear - the Panasonics need very few changes...
