Default Feature Madness

Is anyone else here kind of tired of all the wham bam overcomplicated features? Features so complicated they actually have to put an instruction sheet in the case? I got excited for a bit with Doomsday _ I thought I was actually getting an insert, but no such luck.

But on the example of Doomsday, it had some cool looking documentaries I wanted to check out, but I discovered I couldn't just watch them. I had to turn on something and then watch the frigging movie again and do something at particular point of the film, or have to have stuff jump out at me and respond.

Or Close Encounters. They have this cool sounding feature to see differences in the cuts. So they stick an icon on the screen. But they don't stick the icons unobtrusively in the unused portion of the picture, they stick it over the picture.

It is driving me mad. The kids had a new toybox and they are abusing the toys.
