Looking for the BEST 2.1 system

So here's my TV stand



Quite simple, usefull, but it deeply needs a sound system, first i need better sound, and that stand needs to be filled... it looks empty. (once i get all my sound system it's time for operation: HIDE THE CABLES)

I'm quite the noob when it comes to Home Theater System. (Honestly i don't even know what's a receiver...)

I just want A 2.1 SYSTEM that goes with my PS3 and HD cable box, something with the less cables possible, nice looking (black piano look would be welcome) not expensive (around 500$) and i don't want a system with big sounds and huge bass, i prefer crystal clears voices over big background explosions.

Hope you guys can help me, i'd appreciate.
