Default Why?

Ok I have a simple question. I have heard lots say the best is the PS3. I have heard that summy is great, sony, panny, and so on. I personamlly own a Samsung 1400. DO plan on exchanging it and gtting either a newer one or the 1500. But here is my question, I have seen a lot of people saying that they have more then 1 type of player. What is the point of having more then 1 player to begin with. I mean you can only watch 1 movie at a time rihgt (unless you have 2 tv's hoked up next to each other and play 2 movies at the same time. almost like pip) ANYWAY. But still whats the point in having more then 1 and keep both or more for that matter. Just asking.

Well, I have a PS3 in my living room and one in my bedroom, I like to watch a movie at night when I go to bed.

Dude, you're kidding... right? I've got a BD-P2550 in my den with my HT set-up, and the BD-P1500 in the master BR in case I want to watch some older SD flick with the wife in bed. It would be no different than having a non BRP in both rooms and wanting the same thing. If I want to watch a DVD in every room I have a TV in I'll put a player in that room. It's about personal wants, not necessarily needs. It has nothing to do with watching two separate flicks at the same time. The BRP will become the "standard" DVD player for all occasions, just like everyone had VHS, we all will have BRPs eventually. It's the evolutionary steps and antiquated theory of the rise of this technology.

By the way, get the 2550. It has the Reon HQV chip for better upscaling, the 1500 does not. You'll be very happy with that choice.

The Reon is used for upconverting DVDs to 1080p.
Sure the 1500 can do it also, but the Reon does it with better picture quality.
That may or may not be of interest to you, so it is up to you to decide if if is worth the extra $$ for it.

This is true. It will come down to dollars as part of the whole decision, however, the upscaling PQ is night and day between the 1500 and 2550 because of that chip. This was the one thing that I was disappointed with in the 1500, was that they took the HQV chip out. The 1400 has it and I also had a 1400, but the 1400 was just too glitchy at the time I purchased it and I didn't care to move through all the updates to get it working. You'll still read people's plight with the 1400 and that it works for some with no issues, and still glitches for others. If you're going to stick with a Samsung you will not be disappointed with the 2550. It's great right out of the box without any FW updates thus far.
