Default Dirty Harry (UK release) - are the SD extras in NTSC?

I have a US BD player but I'd like to get the UK release of 'Dirty Harry' as the US release is in one of those "coffee table book" formats. I know the disc is all-region, but can anyone confirm whether the extras in standard definition (if any) are in NTSC or PAL? My player would not be able to play PAL material.

Any information would be much appreciated - thanks.

Bluray players don't have the NTSC / PAL issue. Or are you saying that SD material on Blurays is PAL or NTSC ?

Yes - BD players do have the NTSC/PAL issue because many BDs of films include extras in standard definition. These are in either NTSC or PAL, and a US BD player can't play PAL material.

And of course BD players are also DVD players, so the issue exists anyway as far as DVD playback is concerned. UK/European players can handle both PAL and NTSC but US players only handle NTSC.

Based on previous Warners releases, I would say the North American disc is actually being sold for the UK market - so yes. Even if not, I can't see Warners doing a PAL conversion. Don't all their cases in the UK state 480i/p on the back for Special Features (NTSC definition?)

Thanks. I agree with you that it's highly unlikely to have any PAL material, but I was just trying to make sure! I didn't know that all Warner UK releases show 480i/p for Special Features, but that's certainly a reassuring point. (Many studios don't provide any clue about SD formats on their BDs.) The only other UK BD release from Warner that I have is 'Bonnie And Clyde' and the SD extras on that one are certainly in NTSC, so I'll probably go ahead and order the UK 'Dirty Harry'. Thanks again.

I would see if you could check the Prestige or The Island, being as this were Warner in Europe, but other studios elsewhere.

I have the UK Prestige on HD DVD, and the extras are listed as "480i or 480p standard definition". If Warner didn't bother with PAL conversions for films that they only have European rights to, I can't see them bothering for films where they hold both NTSC and PAL distribution rights.

I must admit though, I have very few UK Warner discs blu-ray (or HD DVD come to that) as I tend to import from the US to save money.

I have that one, the extras are 480, however there's something really strange about them, on my plasma LG, all the excerpts from the movie in those are strobing, I have no idea why is that, and it's the only series of Blu-Rays (happens to all Dirty Harry supplements made recently) that it happens. I have the french disc, for information.
