Default How to scan blu-ray covers nicely?

I use Collectorz.com's Movie collector to keep my list of blu-rays up to date and always add a front and back cover scan. Then I can export it to my website to have an online listing of my collection

However, I'm having some trouble to get nice scans of the covers. I prefer to make scans with the blue case included, because I feel that looks nicer than taking the covers out (as blu-ray cases aren't as tall as DVD cases). But I'm having trouble to get nice contrast, even with a good scanner. Any suggestions how to get them nice?

Here's as example of my results (click to enlarge)

A lot of the photo editors have an auto adjust type setting that will do a lot of that for you. Occasionally, they're a little too aggressive with the contrast but in general, I think it usually does a pretty good job. Any of them will let you do it manually and the scanner software usually has the options as well (manually or auto).

The really tough ones are the covers with reflective parts.

If you are not married to Collectorz.com then try DVD Profiler. The paid membership provides quality scans with a smart digital BD header. Here is an example:

Thank you all for your suggestions. I gave it another twist. I found a nice scan of a case, cut out the cover of the case and saved that as a photoshop file.

Then, I just take my covers out of the case, scan them nicely, and with some resizing and cut-and-paste work in photoshop obtain this result.

Original cover scan

Cover scan merged with blu-ray case template

For those interested in using this, I'll upload the PSD template. The dimensions you need to resize your cover scans in are 478x555 pixels.

Now all I need is a nice scan of the back of a blu-ray case, preferably at the same dimensions. If anyone has that, please feel free to post it.
