Are there any aftermarket Blue-ray read or write drives for laptops in the works?

What will the compatibility depend on?

I passed up the option for a HD-DVD ROM on my new laptop in hopes I'll be able to put in a writable Blue-ray or HD-DVD later.

as you can see Im willing to spend on the Blue-ray.

I'm not aware of any internal aftermarket kits currently shipping.
