Default Home Theater seats for a great price

I saw this in the , out of all places, Kmart ad on sunday. On a whim, I decided to check them out for myself. These are almost identical in size, feel and fit to the $900 Lane seats that I was looking at. I ended up buying the 2 and 1 arm chairs for $430 total! I would have spent $1800 for the Lanes. Anyone looking to get some good looking chairs for their setup, I would take a look at these if a store is nearby. The link to the website is below.

they look pretty nice, but i would worry about the material falling apart or getting worn easily fairly quickly. i didnt see what it was made of but im assuming its not leather at that price.
one of the lessons i have learned dearly in life is that when it comes to furniture, you get what you pay for. they do look nice though and hopefully they will hold up for you

I agree, they look nice, but I doubt they are great quality. I know furniture is a big mark up but I wanted something that would last so I got my semicircle sectional from Rooms To Go. Cost a bit more because it's solid and made with black leather, seats 5 and I know it will last a long time. Please update when you get the ones from K-Mart. I'm curious to know how they are.

Post a link, or at least a picture. Curious to see what kind of setup that is.

Nice setup. I'm currently keeping an eye out for a 10' seating solution for my little home theater setup.

Cool pics!

I put the 2 arm one together and have to admit that I was very impressed. Super easy assembly. It had nice padding, including good lumbar for the price point. The cover is a vinyl, but seemed to be reinforced where need be. I have seen some soft real leather chairs that do not hold up well, so I am nicely confident in the longevity. The reclining mechanism is very good. Smooth and took me into a good position, as I am only 5'9. Most theater chairs are usually too big for me, not so with this one. Hope this helps. Again, its Kmart, but I was pleasantly surprised.

Glad to hear that. Sounds like they are made fairly well.

Why do people still use that expression? There has never been a bargain or a rip off? No one could really believe that.

Anyway,... those look like nice chairs. I don't suppose any K-marts has them in store so you can check them out in person.

If they are in store, you can always look at the construction underneath, that's what matters.

My Kmart had them setup. Frankly, that was why I bought them. For the price, they look and feel great. The construction is not top notch, as expected. Unless you are over 250lbs, you should not wear it out anytime soon I think.

Well, I'm not only concerned about how they are made (construction quality) but also where they are made, especially after reading about the latest news announcement which I saw on CNN today. I then researched this on the internet and found the latest news item, quoted in part below:

"Customers in France who bought Chinese-made recliners are complaining of stinging allergic rashes and infections.

One customer, Caroline Morin, said Friday she was stunned to learn the chair she bought last December appears to have caused the skin problems she says she suffered for months. "You sit comfortably on something and in fact you have a bomb under your butt," she said.

The French distributor, Conforama, warned clients in July that some of the chairs and sofas presented an allergy risk "in rare cases." It has withdrawn them from sale and now says the health problems were linked to an anti-fungal chemical in the chairs.

The affair gained attention this week following French media reports exposing problems suffered by people who bought the chairs."

Clearly there are many issues which one must consider but hopefully more expensive home theater seating is not only better constructed but is also AMERICAN manufactured!

I'm sorry, but "skin problems" are in no way similar to a "bomb".

You've obviously never had a severe allergic reaction to something before.

Trying to find out what caused it can be a pain because a lot of times it doesn't happen as soon as you come into contact with the substance. It can take weeks or months before you have a reaction. I could see myself sitting on my couch I purchased a few months ago trying to think what I've started doing differently to cause this reaction. A few years ago I rolled my dirt bike on my leg and got a severe burn from the exhaust pipe. I used the burn creme the doctor prescribed to me for three weeks before I had a reaction. I had a rash, swelling, burning and itching. Have you ever tried to scratch a 3rd degree burn?

I do think "time-bomb" would have been more accurate though.
